Summer Wells, 5, remains missing 21 hours after she disappeared from her home in Hawkins County.

At a press conference on Wednesday, people living in the region were asked to check outbuildings and storage sheds for the missing child.

Wells is 3-feet tall with blonde hair who is believed to be barefoot. She was last seen Tuesday evening walking near her home in the Beech Creek community.

Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson said more than 100 first responders are combing the areas near Wells home, about 15 miles southwest of Kingsport. He said the area is “very dense, a hard area to search” with very little radio communication possible.

“What makes it so hard is communication between boots on the ground, searchers in the woods and the different agencies. We aren’t like in these towns where they’ve got a lot of cell service,” Lawson said.

Lawson said multiple agencies are searching the area using every tool available, including FLIR cameras on a THP helicopter overnight.

The family is cooperating in the investigation, Lawson said, but declined to answer questions about any issues within the home. The sheriff also said it was too early to tell if there was any foul play involved in the child’s disappearance.

“We’re going to continue on until we find Summer and put this case to rest,” Lawson said during the press conference.

TBI initially issued an Endangered Child Alert on Tuesday night, but upgraded that to an AMBER Alert on Wednesday. The agency said “new information and growing concern,” led to that update. New images of Wells were also released Wednesday, with TBI noting that her hair may be shorter than how it appeared in earlier photos.

Well I just wasted an hour of my life on this insanity.

This girl ain't missing. 99% sure her family killed her.

There's really too much to even share, but in a nutshell, dad is a sex offender, mom may have killed her own sister, and everyone is an alcoholic...

JFC!

And I’m going to be the insensitive jerk to point it out, but...her second photo is seriously creeping me out. I can’t explain it, I just find it unsettling.

jesus dude there is way too much wtf in this story?! at first I thought she had cancer or something but I'm actually pretty sure her head was shaved intentionally and I can't help but think of all the stories we've posted on here about parents that do that shit as a 'punishment'...dammit I hope I'm wrong but my spidey senses say this one's gonna end real fuckin bad...

ps sorry for the run on sentence lol

A five year old child is not considered to be a toddler. She is walking and talking somewhere if she is alive and able.

If she was taken on the 15th I'm not hopeful that this will end well.

I hope I'm wrong.

AMBER Alert: Still no sign of missing 5-year-old out of Tennessee, search continues
Missing 5-year-old Summer Wells’ dad thinks ‘someone snuck up on her and grabbed her’

HAWKINS COUNTY, Tenn.
Jun 17, 2021 / 09:01 PM EDT

The father of missing 5-year-old Summer Wells said he believes his daughter may have been kidnapped.

Don Wells said he was not ready to go on camera but did issue a statement to News Channel 11 on Thursday. Summer disappeared Tuesday evening, and Don said “she would never do that.”

“She would never leave our hill. I think that someone snuck up on her and grabbed her. I don’t think she’s in the area because the dog goes down to the road and that’s the end of the trail, but I don’t know that for a fact. The way that she just disappeared, she would never do that,” Don Wells said.

Summer Wells was reported missing Tuesday evening by her parents in the Beech Creek area of Hawkins County. An endangered child alert issued Tuesday night was escalated to a statewide AMBER Alert Wednesday morning.

“We know that there’s people praying all around the world praying for her safe return. So many people love her,” Don Wells said.

TBI has asked that residents continue to share photos of Summer and credible information.

“As we’ve stated before, the circumstances surrounding Summer’s disappearance remain unclear,” said TBI’s Public Information Officer, Leslie Earhart in a media briefing Thursday afternoon. “If we do develop information that she was taken and we develop a suspect and a vehicle description…we will share that immediately. At this time, that’s just not the case.”

More than 100 emergency responders have searched around her home with ground and aerial search crews covering a several mile radius by Thursday evening, but have yet to locate her.

On Thursday, Lawson indicated there was continuing uncertainty about the circumstances of the girl’s disappearance.

“Everything’s on the table,” Lawson said. “Everybody’s a person of interest until we find Summer.”

Wells, who became the subject of a statewide Amber Alert on Wednesday, still has not been found.

"We had hoped we would have good news to share with you by now, but unfortunately, we do not," said TBI Spokesperson Leslie Earhart.

Wells was last seen seen outside her home in Rogersville, Tennessee on Tuesday evening. The TBI says the circumstances of Summer's disappearance still remain unclear.

Hawkins County Sherriff Ronnie Lawson said that a large number of people, several K-9 units, drones and a helicopter are helping scour the area.

Lawson added that 80 to 100 trained law enforcement professionals were searching the area.

Sorry, dad, but it really looks more and more like you had something to do with her disappearance. I watched the news conference with the police and search teams, and they haven't found the slightest sign of her anywhere. Incredible efforts have had to be made due to the terrain, and AT&T and (I think) Verizon set up mobile cell towers because service is so bad there. They have handled the search in a very organized and professional manner.

Sherriff when asked if the father was suspect indicated everyone is a suspect until we recover Summer.

I'm wondering why the timeline around the last sighting prior to the disappearance is so sketchy.

The terrain where they are and have searched looks to be a real nightmare to try to move through.

Hats off to LE and everyone else involved in the search.

I'm hoping for the best case scenario, which would be that she escaped from her dangerous and disgusting family.

Summer Wells’ disappearance isn’t the first time a family member has gone missing. The sister of Summer’s mother, Candus Wells, disappeared in Wisconsin back in 2009.

“Her sister went missing and was never found not a trace,” said Don Wells.

Don Wells is convinced someone abducted his daughter and that she is now far away from the woods where authorities are searching.

“Me personally I’m pretty certain someone grabbed her, threw her in a car and left the area. Summer if you can hear me we all love you so much,” Don Wells said.

Officials with the TBI and the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office said during a media briefing Friday that they are now investigating Summer Wells father’s claims that the 5-year-old was kidnapped.

Man she’s really gorgeous. I hope she has the chance to grow into her features and get those two front teeth, she’s going to be stunning.

Quote from dad in regards to his wife’s sister, who also went missing.

“They never found no trace of her either,” he said.

Strange wording, no?

The Summer Wells case has similarities to the Noah Chamberlain case also in TN
1. The disappearance stories and timelines (sketchy)
2. Fathers both have criminal backgrounds
3. Fathers' emotions are not appropriate given the situation (bogus)
Why was Summer's mother and grandmother not interviewed on TV ?
Why did mainstream TV media not reveal the exact nature of Don Wells' criminal background ?
Something is terribly wrong with the whole story being presented by the Wells family.
What are the odds of both the Aunt and Summer vanishing without a trace ?
Did the FBI administer polygraph tests to the mother, father, grandmother ?
I am sorry, but I think this is a homicide situation not abduction/disappearance.
What do you all think ?

Summer Wells was planting flowers with her mom and grandmother outside their home in rural Tennessee before she went inside to play with her toys, according to her father.
When her mother went looking for her a short time later, she was gone.

“She went out the basement door and we haven’t seen her since,” Donald Wesley Wells told WSMV in Nashville.
Summer went missing from the family home on Ben Hill Road in the unincorporated community of Beech Creek, where officials said neighbors are few and far between. The road — which juts off a state highway — is less than a mile long and dead-ends at a dense forest surrounded by rocky peaks. A stream called Limestone Branch snakes alongside it.
In a recorded phone interview with the Kingsport Times-News published Friday, Summer’s father said she was planting flowers about 20 feet from the house with her mother and grandmother the day she went missing. She then went inside and told her brothers, who were reportedly watching TV, that she wanted to play with her toys in the basement.

Her mother, Candus Wells, couldn’t find Summer when she came inside, the father told the newspaper. He said it wasn’t unusual for them to find Summer out back.
The agency said they’ve received 137 tips as of Sunday, but the circumstances of Summer’s disappearance remain unclear.
He also told the Kingsport Times-News he willingly took a lie detector test as part of the investigation into his daughter’s disappearance.

“It didn’t bother me to do it whatsoever,” he said. “I understand that, and a lot of times the parents are responsible.”
“Please, please have mercy on that poor little baby. If there’s an ounce of mercy in your body, please let her find her way to get home,” Wells said. “Maybe God will have mercy on you.”

The given story from the parents just seems odd to me.

According to the parents we have Summer somewhere on the property with Mom and Grandma planting flowers just prior to her disappearance.

She then goes into the house and is supposedly seen by her brothers who were watching TV. She informs them that she is going to the basement to play with toys.

Then poof... Summer is seen no more.

I don't know about anyone else but it just seems odd to me that Summer comes inside and would announce to her brothers her intentions of playing with her toys in the basement. I would have had the sofa pillows thrown at me for the interruption.

With every day that has passed my optimism that Summer would be found alive and well has dwindled. Now I just pray that her body is recovered for her families sake so they can say their goodbyes before laying her to rest.
