Russia: Childminder Beheads Boy, 6, With Kitchen Knife In Drug-Fuelled Rage

A childminder was arrested after allegedly beheading a six-year-old with a kitchen knife in a drug-fuelled rage while the child's mum was giving birth in hospital.

While the boy's mum, Elena, 36, was giving birth to her sixth child, her young son was left in the care of 47-year-old Sergey Podgornov at the family home in the city of Engels, Russia.

The boy's stepdad, Mikhail Grushin, 33, found the headless body of the young child in the kitchen when he returned to the house.

Once detained by cops, Podgornov initially said he "did not remember" that he had severed the boy’s head, a police source said.

Saratov regional court sentenced to life imprisonment 48-year-old resident of Engels Sergey Podgornov. He was found guilty of the murder of a young boy and abusing his body after his death.

In the afternoon of November 20, 2020, Podgornov was in a house on the street of Workers Mayok with a friend stepson, who asked him to look after the boy and went on business for a while.

In front of a six-year-old boy, Podgornov began to use alcohol and drugs. After a while, he had an unteaching to the child and he decided to kill him. The convict stabbed the boy five times in the head, and then with two blows to the neck beheaded him.


Podgornov did not stop there. After his death, he stabbed the body of the child six times.

The defendant pleaded guilty, but refused to testify.

The court sentenced him to life imprisonment in a special regime colony.
