Tre S. Patrizz was arrested after he claimed he forgot he tethered his dog to the back of his car, causing injuries to the dog, according to South Windsor Police.
Police said they received two 9-1-1 calls, one from Patrizz claiming his dog jumped out of his car while he was driving and another from a witness who said they saw Patrizz driving down Buckland Road with his dog tethered to the back.
Patrizz took his gray pitbull to New England Veterinary Center, where Patrizz was arrested, police said.
Police said he told them he forgot he had tethered the dog to the car.
According to police, the dog had “significant” road rash to the underbelly and paws. The injuries do not appear life-threatening, and he will recover after long-term bandage care and pain management.
Patrizz, 26, was charged with tethering a dog to a mobile device and cruelty to animals.
