State police say a Huntingdon woman is behind bars after a weeks-old infant was attacked by her German Shepherd dog and reportedly suffered multiple injuries, including a skull fracture.

Investigators say 39-year-old Nicole Jones is now facing charges after the 46-day old baby was hospitalized last month.
According to the affidavit, troopers were contacted on June 3rd after Jones' family dog reportedly attacked the infant while it was in its bassinette.

Police say the German Shepherd is reportedly registered as a "dangerous dog," since August of last year, after it previously attacked multiple other victims in the neighborhood.

Investigators say Jones reportedly found the dog "shredding" the baby's diaper and onesie, and stated that she believed the dog was trying to get the infant's pacifier.
Police also noted that Jones had initially claimed that the incident had occurred in the upstairs of the home, while she was showering.

However, troopers learned that the baby had allegedly been left alone downstairs.

According to the complaint, police say the baby was treated for multiple injuries, including a left-side skull fracture, broken ribs and multiple puncture wounds and scratches.

I had a little sister 10 years younger than me (she has passed now) and my dad had a German Shepard named Rex and a little mutt named Killer (both sweet hearts) but Rex was scared of loud noises-the fourth of July he went NUTS-no one was home but when my dad and his wife came home that night he had chewed up a metal door knob, literal teeth holes thru it (they left him in the den), tore thru the door and broke thru the kitchen window, glass everywhere and he was found cowering in the back yard that he could not escape (tall privacy fence). BEFORE my sister Corrine was born they rehomed him (not Killer tho, his name was the opposite of what he was)-altho Rex had never hurt anyone he obviously could not handle loud noises, could you imagine a baby screaming??!! While I was upset and missed him, even at 10 I knew they did the right thing. This bitch is a dumbass to put it mildly. Hope baby makes FULL recovery-always have to worry about the head injuries...

Why wasn't this dog destroyed after it attacked multiple people?
