It's another year and another October, which means I will once again watch a horror movie a day in October leading to the best holiday... which is proven scientifically and even states as much in most religious writings.

But to start things off, here is my ranking of all the 2024 horror films I have watched so far, starting with the best (note that some of these movies are from 2023, but US release wasn't until 2024):

  1. The Substance
  2. Cuckoo
  3. Strange Darling
  4. The Devil's Bath
  5. The First Omen
  6. Alien Romulus
  7. Abigail
  8. Arcadium
  9. Maxxine
  10. Exhuma
  11. The Vourdalak
  12. Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person
  13. Late Night with the Devil
  14. In A Violent Nature
  15. Subservience
  16. Beetlejuice
  17. Red Rooms
  18. Last Straw
  19. Handling the Undead
  20. Out Came the Wolves
  21. Milk and Serial
  22. Longlegs
  23. Oddity
  24. A Quiet Place Day One
  25. Sting
  26. Immaculate
  27. The Deliverance
  28. Afraid
  29. Hell Hole
  30. Horror in the Desert 3
  31. The Beast Within
  32. Tarot
  33. Night Swim
  34. I Saw the TV Glow

As for the top 2024 non-horror movies I have seen so far this year that no one asked for, they are:
  1. Ghostlight
  2. Sing SIng
  3. Rebel Ridge
  4. Thelma
  5. Furiosa
  6. Dune 2
  7. Off Ramp
  8. Kneecap
  9. Deadpool and Wolverine
  10. Civil War
Lastly, here is my Letterboxd profile where I log every movie I watch. Not that I am that narcissistic to think anyone cares what movies I watch or like, but if any of you share my same tastes in movies it's a good place to see if I liked or disliked anything you may want to check out yourself. As usual, feel free to use the thread to join in on your own horror movie marathon and post your results.

They are really pushing Mia Goth,I thought XXX was ok ,but I liked Pearl. Can't wait for Terrifier 3.

Mia is a great actress. Ti West is not, to me, a great director. He did make one of my all-time favorite movies (House of the Devil), but he also made a bunch of mediocre crap. I thought XXX was just ok... but thought Pearl was absolutely amazing due in large part to Mia Goth's performance. Maxxine was, once again, just ok for me... not horrible, but not something I will ever watch again.

Yes and unfortunately she might be tied to Marvel's future Blade project.

The "unfortunately " part was in reference to all of the re-writes to the scripts, Marvel's track record has been dismal lately,Excluding the new Deadpool movie.

Agreed. I have to admit that I have enjoyed watching Disney destroy Marvel movies and Star Wars. I have never seen someone pay through the nose for a golden goose, only to repeatedly destroy the eggs it lays... much less two. It's beautiful... and that's coming from someone who was initially excited about them buying Star Wars.

@Morbid

Have you watched Speak No Evil yet (American Version)?

Just watched Last Straw - I would give it a 3 out of 5.

oh I love this list! have seen a lot but not all so thank you @Morbid now I have more to add to my list to watch! Substance was a great movie, I liked that one. I also recently saw BLINK TWICE with Channing Tatum, it's a psychological thriller and I liked that one too. Also want to throw out a couple of "old" movies that I recently watched with my teenage daughter-she liked them: The exorcist (the original) and the Witches of Eastwick (love Jack Nicholson). We watch Coraline every year too, I don't care how old I am I love that movie! :)

Agreed with Last Straw. I have seen the original Speak No Evil. One o those kinds of movies I really liked but will never watch again. Easier to take the ending when you realize it was all just a statement against Danish politeness. lol.

The Substance was a little too much for me @Morbid everyone likes when a titty pops out but this one not so much.

Oh, come on! "See an eyeball pop out a tit" should have been on the friggin' poster!

Sometimes, I like to see if any old, obscure movies are on YouTube. Rather unfortunately, the sound and picture quality is always so abysmal, that it makes watching a black and white film a chore. Like, it's really crappy quality. But 123movies is usually fine.
