Tonimarie Barrett, 42, was taken into custody over the weekend and charged with one count each of felony endangering the welfare of a child, making terroristic threats, and recklessly endangering another person, authorities announced.
According to a news release from the Pocono Township Police Department, at about 5:19 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a call regarding an abandoned child at a Turkey Hill convenience store in Tannersville, Pennsylvania. First responders arrived at the establishment and located the child.

Investigators learned that the child and her mother, whom they identified as Barrett, had left a residence in Long Pond, Pennsylvania, at around midnight to drive back to their home in New Rochelle, New York, which is about a 114-mile trip east.

During the trip, authorities say Barrett stopped at a "closed gas station" so she could plug their destination into a GPS and get directions home. During the stop, tensions between Barrett and her daughter escalated, leading to a quarrel.
According to the report, the daughter told police that while at the gas station, her mother demanded that she hand over her iPad. The teen refused because she believed her mother would destroy the device. After being refused the iPad, Barrett allegedly threatened to stab her daughter if the teen did not give her the device, which she did.

Barrett's daughter also reportedly mentioned that she asked Barrett if she could use her cellphone to get directions, but Barrett refused.

The teen then got out of the car and Barrett allegedly drove away. She eventually walked to the Turkey Hill location after staying at the closed gas station for a few hours, the complaint says.

I wonder how far away "mom" was when she was apprehended? Not that it matters-sh left her kid 114 miles away from home-where the child stayed for a few hours before cops were called-"mom" could of easily been home by then. There is NO WAY I could do that and believe me I KNOW how frustrating a 13 year old can be, I have a 13 year old girl.

We took our girls to the fair on Saturday, my 13 yr old wanted to try the deep fried Oreo cookies (they fry everything these days huh?!) Th line was LONG, my 13 yr old got in line to wait, which was not moving, she got mad after a little bit, started fussing, I told her to stop, blah blah-she gets mad and STORMS OFF. Her dad, her sister and myself waited for a few minutes for her to come back. When she did not not, I had dad stay there, sent her older sister to the other oreo stand to see if she went there and I walked in the direction she stormed off in. It had been only 5-10 minutes by the time I found her but I was in a state of PANIC-near tears, and I could not call her bc I had her phone on me, I was not partaking in rides so I held everyone's crap. When I found her she was walking back to where she had originally stormed off from. I was fit to be tied and SO relieved at the same time to have my baby back in front of me. She got an earful from me. I did eventually get her those damn Oreo things-lol. NO F'N WAY would I or could I just abandon my kid 114 miles away or even 1000 feet away!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the article it says how far away she was when the police caught up to her.

"Barrett then proceeded to leave the juvenile at the closed business and drove to a gas station in Effort, [Pennsylvania], where she remained until police contacted her after 0700 hours."

Effort is about 10 miles southwest of the Turkey Hill location.

..... asking for a friend.

My kids and their dad said they were good (I don't care for sweets too much, I did not try even tho they tried to get me too, I am more of a salty treat/snack person), they liked them, said they were VERY sweet, they had powered sugar all over them too. They woud get it again but if they had to choose between a funnel cake or oreos, could only choose one they would choose the funnel cake...until next year rolls around and they want the Oreos again lol
