Not Guilty By Reason Of Insanity: Heather Langdon Arrested On Suspicion Of Drowning Her Twin 10MO Sons After Being Removed From A Women's Shelter

Police arrested a mother on suspicion of drowning her twin 10-month-old sons whose bodies were found Thursday in a motel in central California.

Heather Langdon was taken into custody a day after police officers helped arrange for her and her children to spend the night in the motel after she was told she could no longer remain at a women's shelter in Tulare because she was causing a disturbance.

Tulare police Sgt. Jon Hamlin said officers had no previous contact with the 37-year-old Langdon and would have called for mental health assistance if they believed she was a danger to herself or the children.

He said the officers didn't want to leave without finding shelter for them on the cold, rainy night, so they found a nonprofit agency willing to pay for the motel room.

Sergeant Jon Hamlin of the Tulare Police Department said dispatch then received a 911 call around 7:45am. The caller said that two infants had drowned.

First responders arrived at the Virginia Motor Lodge Motel, where the family had been staying, and immediately began efforts to revive the babies. They were then rushed to the hospital but soon pronounced dead.

After questioning Langdon and obtaining a search warrant for the motel room, police placed her under arrest.

I know but they didn't kick her out on the street ... they made accommodations for her.

I agree that they should have taken the kids if her getting put up someplace else was

due to her behaviour and not the shelter being over crowded. I wouldn't want to live in a hotel

with kids ... fuck that ... where are her parents ... like these kids have two sets of grandparents and

a father ... I think they dropped the ball way before the shelter did.

You know the greatest structure in the world ... isn't a building at all ... its a family.

Having twin boys is stressful under the best of circumstances, it's a shame she wasn't able to seek some additional help, or that there was none available to her. Obviously there's no excuse for not calling 911 when you're on the verge of drowning your kids, but without a little more information, I can't help feeling just a little bit sorry for her

Who knows her family situation. Who knows if she even knows the name of the bio dad.

She could have just been being a bitch. They kick you out of those things for everything.

I want to know what behaviors she was exhibiting at the shelter and if she was danger why did they not call CPS on her.

If she was not acting aggressive the police would have had no reason to contact CPS to remove the children.

from what I have read a witness saw her that evening worried and saying 'I almost drowned my twins!'
which leads me to believe she may have been inattentive and thought she got them in time but then during the night they had secondary drowning and died.

A mother could face capital punishment if convicted in the deaths of her twin 10-month-old sons, who she’s accused of drowning in a motel in Tulare last week, prosecutors said Monday.

Heather Langdon, 37, faces two counts each of first-degree murder and assault on a child causing death, with a special circumstance allegation that she committed multiple murders, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

The Visalia Times-Delta identified the victims as Maddox and Mason Murguia and said they were found under water in a motel room.

A GoFundMe campaign was set up to raise money for the boys’ memorial service, but as of Monday had stopped accepting money at the request of their father, who has not been publicly identified.

Langdon also has three other children of unknown ages, according to the Times-Delta.

well I was hopeful but wrong. it wasn't secondary drowning but deliberate drowning. Poor little babes

Heather Langdon was found not guilty by reason of insanity.

The police really dropped the ball on protecting these children.

The father begged the police to not Langson leave with her children but the police said he had no choice to but to let her go.

The officer who responded to the woman's shelter had an opportunity to save the childrens' lives.

The ongoing failure of law enforcement detailed in the lawsuit is appalling
