A Crawfordville man has been arrested in Tallahassee, accused of stabbing a victim's dog in the eye with a screwdriver before ramming into his girlfriend's trailer with a truck.
Phillip Harp, 41, was arrested on Friday, the day of his birthday, and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, and animal abuse.
On Friday around 4 p.m., Leon County deputies were called to a trailer about a disturbance.
When they arrived, they spoke with a roommate who told them that Harp had come to her home to talk to her friend, who he has been in an ongoing relationship with.
However, when Harp pulled up to the home, the roommate told him to leave because his girlfriend was not going with him.
While they were arguing, the roommate's dog ran up, attempting to play with Harp's dog who was in the bed of his truck.
That's when Harp got out of his truck and stabbed the roommates's dog in the left eye with a screwdriver. To stop Harp from hurting the dog any more, the roommate threw a 2x4 board at Harp but missed.
Documents say Harp then picked up the board and threw it back at the roommate, before throwing the screwdriver at his girlfriend. After that, Harp hopped in his truck and drove off.
The girlfriend told investigators that Harp contacted her before showing up, saying that he was coming over to stir up some trouble because he was having a bad day.
Since Harp was no where to be found, deputies were unable to make an arrest.
However, nearly three hours later, deputies were called to Donaldson Enterprises where Harp was in custody.
According to witnesses, Harp had come back to the home and said, "I will go to prison on my birthday... and I mean it." He then stated, "I will put this truck through the middle of that trailer."
At that point, Harp got into his truck and put it in reverse before he "punched" the gas, backing over the fence in the front yard and into the trailer.
When deputies interviewed Harp, he denied throwing things and stabbing the dog. He told them he was at the residence because his girlfriend invited him over for his birthday.
Based on the injuries on both victims, Harp was arrested.
