New court documents show internet sleuths provided information to the FBI, which led to the arrest of a Kokomo woman for allegedly torturing and killing cats and dogs.

Krystal Cherika Scott, 19, now faces federal charges in connection with an investigation into animal cruelty videos on social media, including one count of animal crushing and another another of creating animal crush videos – a violation under the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act.

The probable cause affidavit defines animal crushing as “conduct in which one or more living non-human mammals, birds, reptiles, or amphibians is purposely crushed, burned, drowned, suffocated, impaled, or otherwise subjected to serious bodily injury.”

Federal agents served a search warrant in Kokomo Tuesday, after Scott allegedly posted “images and videos of torturing and graphically killing cats and dogs by hanging, skinning and other means” between May 3 and July 8 on Instagram and other social media platforms.

Because the images and videos did not show Scott’s face, authorities said private citizens (referred to as “internet sleuths” or “cyber tipsters”) began using platforms like Reddit, Instagram and YouTube to collect identifying information to pass on to law enforcement and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

The court documents explain that the Boise (Idaho) Police Department (BPD) received several reports from these tipsters around June 16. At the time, the internet sleuths believed Scott to be living in Idaho and police then opened an investigation into one or more Instagram accounts.

Court documents explain that BPD was preparing a search warrant for the social media accounts, the Instagram account in question shared a message in a private chat, “I’ll be killing a pregnant Siamese and a kitten later on today,” and, “I’ll be dispatching two cats so I’ll be posting the videos,” as well as pictures of a gray kitten, a black kitten and a Siamese cat inside a black wire cage.

Around the same time images of a kitten hanged from a ligature, later seen on the ground in a different image, and followed by a video of what appears to be the same kitten hanging again from the ligature and the comment, “Little (expletive) was still alive so rehanged it.”

Authorities said a BPD detective contacted the FBI after obtaining authority to search linked Instagram accounts of the alleged strangualation video and other images, which registered from the same internet provider (IP) address in Kokomo, Indiana.

According to court documents, another internet sleuth from London, England was interviewed by a Boise FBI agent and provided a document of collected publicly available files and believed that Krystal Scott of Kokomo, Indiana was the perpetrator of dog and cat strangulation videos circulating online.

The information provided included an advertisement on Facebook of a person trying to find a home for a gray kitten, a pregnant Siamese cat and a black kitten “instead of taking them to a shelter.”

The cats were allegedly taken in by a Facebook user named “Sam” or “Sammy” and were delivered around June 18 to a residence in West Kokomo. The person delivering the cats was interviewed by the FBI and provided a description of a female later identified as Scott.

Court documents explain that the Kokomo Police Department (KPD) had previously responded to local reports of animal cruelty by Scott, including an incident on May 3 in which “multiple deceased animals and animal body parts from Scott’s residence.”

According to KPD, a skinned cat was found in Scott’s freezer and a glass jar was found with the legs of an unidentified animal. Scott told police that it was a coyote given to her by a friend, and that the frozen cats had died naturally and were put there after they died.

Authorities said, “KPD was unable to find information linking Scott to the alleged activities” after searching two cell phones provided to them by Scott.

Another incident on June 26 was reported to Kokomo police, after the ASPCA contacted a man, believing that Scott had tortured a cat that the man had given Scott to adopt based on a reported Instagram video. KPD then seized another cell phone to investigate.

The FBI said in the court documents that KPD “were unaware of the details of the BPD and FBI investigation that was opened on June 16, 2020 and continued thereafter.”

And again on July 8, a similarly named Instagram account shared an image of a decapitated dog in a wire cage resembling the cage the grey and black kittens were held in.

Federal authorities obtained search warrants for Scott’s person, devices and residence on July 10, and the FBI Special Agents executed the warrants on July 14.

During the search, the office said the FBI recovered numerous animal parts and skulls that were consistent with the size of cats and dogs. Agents also found three live dogs, 12 live cats and several lizards.

Scott was charged with two counts of making and distributing animal crush videos.

This infuriates and saddens me at the same time.
Laws need harsher treatment and more serious penalties for this type of depraved cruelty.

This ugly twisted bull lez looking monster should be imprisoned forever.
She has sadistic intent that easily equates to a homicidal disposition mentally.

May everyone in her vicinity know who and what she is.

Bullet to the head! This one's obviously not worth keeping around.

Can they introduce a new sentence in USA "BULLET TO THE HEAD". They do that right after the court conviction, out like by the gutter and shit so as to be able to hose the mess down into the wastewater system.

This hucow has been tagged with FEDERAL animal abuse laws, so that should add more bite to the punishment. She/it is a monster and a threat to what little society we have left. I say sterilize the hucow and put it in gen/pop. Let’s see how long she lasts!

They just made animal cruelty a nationwide federal felony crime. Unfortunately, instead of just targeting a-holes like this one, activists made the law so broad that you can get charged for shooting a destructive and invasive rodent, like a nutria. Wouldnt be surprised if they wrap in roadkill as a felony next.

NOOOOOOOO! Where will I get my dinner from?! Oh nevermind that's hipsters. Whew I was overreacting for a sec.

For months, animal advocates and internet sleuths across the country saw the gruesome videos and images shared on several social media platforms and knew they had to do something. They knew they had to find the perpetrator and put a stop the torture and killing of numerous cats and dogs.

Their determination and pursuit paid off.

According to the PC Krystal Cherika Scott admitted to torturing and killing animals, telling agents, her "good side loves cats and dogs but her bad side tells her to commit acts of animal cruelty."

A Kokomo animal welfare advocate who did not want to be identified was among those who spent countless hours working to identify Scott and document what found online.

"I had neighbors and people reaching out to me from multiple sources," she said. "You just start putting the pieces together and know something really dark is going on there."

In early April, the woman went to a cornfield across from Scott's after hearing about a dead dog, wanting to scan it for a microchip so she could notify its owners.

"It was decapitated. No head, no skull," she said. "With a foot removed and the way it was decapitated, it was intentional."

The woman said Scott approached her asking if the dog was decapitated and saying she was "shocked anyone would do something like that."

The woman would soon learn Scott had many aliases and used social media to look for people trying to find good homes for pets they had to give up.

The Kokomo woman who helped other cyber sleuths piece things together, said she's relieved Scott was arrested, but frustrated it took so long.

Asked what she'd like to see happen, she said, "I think there must be a mental health issue that causes anyone to do that and I'd like to see her get the help she needs, but not to be around animals or children or anyone vulnerable she could hurt."

Federal agents recovered three dogs, 12 cats and several reptiles from Scott's home, none of which showed obvious signs of abuse. All were taken to the Kokomo Humane Society. As of late morning, Director Karen Wolf said all but one of the reptiles was adopted. Wolf said she wasn't sure wasn't sure about the dogs and cats. She said none of the animals would be identified as coming from Scott's home. Wolf said she wanted potential pet owners to choose a new companion because it was good fit, not because of where it came from.

It would be interesting to read the interviews of people who knew this bitch. I bet almost all of them wasn't surprised that she was caught torturing and killings animals, because those type of sick fucks love to talk about fucked up shit, just being around her had to feel disturbing. I wonder how far she was from moving on to people?

Krystal Cherika Scott accepted a plea deal Wednesday on two counts of animal crushing. She was sentenced 30 months in prison and given five years supervised release. She was also ordered to not have any pets during the length of her supervised release. Scott had asked the judge for permission to see her dog after she was released from prison. The probation department will have to petition to have the motion changed upon her release.
The probable cause affidavit said, on that same day, someone brought a Siamese cat, a gray kitten and black kitten to Scott's home. An hour after the cats were dropped off, Scott posted a video of "hanging and strangling a grey kitten" with the comment, "Little s___ was still alive so rehanged it.”
Court documents indicate Scott crushed five dogs, five cats and 11 unborn kittens in total.

As part of her sentencing, the state of Indiana is asking for Scott to undergo a mental health evaluation prior to release.
Prosecutors included notes in the sentencing memo that there was a lack of remorse from Scott, citing a May 2021 incident in the Hamilton County Jail, where Scott allegedly brought a moth in from outside and crushed it with her hands in front of her cellmate.

Not only should she not be allowed to own pets ahe should not be allowed near children, the disabled or elderly either.

Unless I'm reading this wrong, it sounds like there are no restrictions on her having pets after her supervised release is over.

Her dog? She wants to see her dog? Where is it, who is taking care of it? What if she decides to make up for the time lost in prison and take it out on that dog when she gets out? She's a bona fide serial killer...IMHO this evil, sick, disgusting bitch should be kept in a cage or die!

Like the dog wants to see her. We can only hope she had a pit bull with a long memory.

A woman on probation in a brutal animal torture case was cited for 12 violations of Indianapolis' animal care law on June 21, despite a court order banning her from all contact with animals through 2028.
Krystal Cherika Scott, 24, was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison in 2021 as part of a plea deal after posting online videos of herself hanging and skinning cats and dogs.

Earlier this week, Indianapolis authorities found her and two others in a U-Haul van in a restaurant parking lot. In the back of the windowless van, animal control officers found 12 cats and dogs.
None of the animals had access to food or water and were "forced to stand" in a pile of feces, according to the animal control officer's report. The inside of the van smelled "like a deceased animal," the officer wrote, though all were alive.

Animal control took the animals. Authorities couldn't figure out who owned each animal, so all three were cited. Each citation carries a fine between $25 and $200. No criminal charges have been filed, according to court records.
Authorities were alerted to the animals in the back of the van by Kyle Christie, a Fountain Square resident who'd had a strange interaction with the group of three earlier. Christie and his next-door neighbor had been using social media to look for the owner of a German Shepherd that they'd found. Scott reached out and said the dog was hers, he said.

On June 18, Scott and her two friends arrived at Christie's neighbor's house to pick up the dog. The German Shepherd "did not have a positive reaction to seeing them," an animal control officer wrote after watching doorbell camera footage of the interaction.
When Christie asked for proof of the dog's ownership, the interaction became tense enough for him to call the police. The officers who responded ultimately said the dog needed to be given to Scott and her friends, however.

Within 10 minutes of the dog's departure, Christie looked Scott up online and learned that she had the same name as the Kokomo woman who'd spent time in federal prison for killing an animal she obtained through social media.
He went to a homeless camp near his house to see if anyone had information about Scott, who's known to stay there. A man living in the camp showed Christie a gruesome scene: a mutilated dog, wrapped in a trash bag and buried in a shallow grave.

Christie couldn't sleep that night. The next morning, his sister and her boyfriend drove around Indianapolis, trying to find the U-Haul van.
After five hours, they saw it parked outside a fast food restaurant at East Washington Street and Southeastern Avenue, with two or three people sleeping in the front seat.

They called the authorities. Police and animal control found a dozen severely dehydrated animals living in filth.
Christie, who had taken a video of the dead dog's remains at the homeless camp, gave it to police. Investigators said in a report that there wasn't direct evidence linking Scott to the deceased dog.

A search of Scott's name in police databases revealed that she was on probation with the federal government. Police planned to contact her probation officer, an incident report said. IMPD confirmed that the office has been contacted and is aware of the incident.
