Doubt they expect the gangs to hand them over, the government presumably expects to be able to seize them from the gangs if the criminals are ever sketchy enough to bring the guns anywhere in public. Get pulled over once with a gun, and the machine is seized and the gangsta goes to jail. Gun control laws prevent people from freely leaving their homes over and over with their assault rifles, which I think could make a difference.

The definition of assault rifle is based upon its performance characteristics, while the definition of assault weapon is based upon its appearance. And, by definition, an assault rifle cannot be an assault weapon nor can an assault weapon be an assault rifle. It's the difference between a Shelby Cobra and a clapped-out 1972 Pinto with go-fast stripes painted over the body rot.

I wasn't thinking of one or the other, I'm just imagining the state seizing big guns when they pull over these super big and tough gangsters. The article mentions both assault weapons and rifles, sounds like they're banning both.

This is just the thug's way of threatening lawmakers saying that only the county's degenerate shitstains will have guns because they plan on continue putting themselves in situations where they will want to kill people... but they promise it's only certain people they plan to shoot up and that they're super safe with them :rolleyes:

I just fucking thought how even more stupid this shit is. Back in the 1800's the British used its projection of power to colonize what we now call New Zealand, a home to the Māori people, a warrior culture. The British defeated the Māori using more effective violence than what the Māori had at the time. Now those descendants of the violent colonist have been coddled to the point where any violence is now abhorrent to them, but the modern Māori people have been relatively successful in retaining their heritage of combat and bravery in face of the other people living in their land.

The fucked up situation now is, a cowardly people, who are only in charge because their ancestors were violent, are telling a warrior culture, they formerly subdued, to now be cowardly like them.
 
The cops will be extremely pleased if the gangs don't hand over their weapons. They will walk in (raid) their compounds, arrest and violate anyone they can. This is a fantastic opportunity to get masses of shit-bag thugs off the street.

I heard the same. But not all of those 1.2 million weapons are now illegal. As I understand it they are adopting Australian type laws. Basically any firearms that can fire in a semi-auto style or pump/lever action are banned. Bolt action, single shot rifles and double barrel shotties are still legit. I don't know about the handguns though... I know that you can obtain pistols for target shooting here, but definitely not semiautos

From what ive read the government in New Zealand has been wanting to pass stricter gun control for awhile and a mass shooting gave them a way to get it done. Honestly gun control is another failed agenda because criminals don't care about the law.
