A recent discovery has led some experts to believe they’ve found the fossil of Noah’s Ark.

Researchers have found that a boat-shaped mound — long believed by the faithful to be Noah’s Ark — was most likely submerged under water during a devastating flood some 5,000 years ago, The Jerusalem Post reported.

The international team of experts has been working together since 2021 to study the Durupinar Formation, which they believe could be the site of a massive preserved vessel.

The 538-foot geological structure, composed of limonite — an ore of iron — is located approximately 20 miles south of Mount Ararat’s summit, in Turkey near the Iranian border in the Doğubayazıt district of Ağrı.

This formation has interested experts for decades due to its ship-like shape and dimensions, similar to the biblical description of Noah’s Ark and Mount Ararat’s mention in religious texts.

According to the Bible, the dimensions of the vessel were “a length of three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits,” mirroring those of the Durupinar formation, “and the ark rested … upon the mountains of Ararat.”

New findings have also shown that the formation was once submerged under water as soil samples containing traces of clay-like materials, marine deposits and seafood remnants were dated back to a time when the biblical floods are said to have occurred, between 3,500 and 5000 years ago.

That site is 2km above sea level. It has not been underwater gathering "seafood remnants" within recorded history. If it had been, there were several advanced civilizations on Earth at the time that would have noticed they had been completely wiped out by floods, and remarked upon it in their writings.

New clues in Noah’s Ark landing site mystery — as experts double down on solving biblical puzzle

A team of researchers claims to be on the brink of solving one of the Bible’s greatest mysteries — the final resting place of Noah’s Ark.

Armed with new soil tests and radar scans, the group known as Noah’s Ark Scans claims to be closer than ever to proving the legendary vessel is buried in the mountains of eastern Turkey — roughly 30 kilometers south of Mount Ararat.

Their target? A 538-foot-long geological formation known as the Durupinar site — a boat-shaped mound said to eerily mirror the exact dimensions of the ark described in the Book of Genesis.

The remote location has long been rumored to hold the fossilized remains of the boat. Though Noah’s Ark is central to Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, its existence remains unproven.

Wouldn't a ground penetrating Lidar scan tell us one way or the other fairly quickly?

I know, right. They can find other stuff that's buried miles under the ground, looks like they can find something that started out on top of the ground, so it shouldn't be buried too far down. But then again what do I know?

This is exceptionally interesting. A boat-like rocky formation consistent both locationally and dimensionally with Noah's Ark. The more that time passes, the more I believe the Bible to be true. I will absolutely want to follow this story, because this consists of perhaps some of the most important archaeology being done in the present day.

Noah’s Ark site’s ‘fully preserved’ secrets discovered in radar scans: ‘Not what you’d expect to see’

American researchers claim to have cracked one of the Bible’s enduring mysteries — after using radar technology to map the possible remains of Noah’s Ark.

“It is exactly what you’d expect to find if this were a man-made boat, consistent with the biblical specifications of Noah’s Ark,” Andrew Jones, an independent researcher, told the Christian Broadcasting Network, while revealing the results of his multi-year project.

The exact spot is the Durupinar site, a 538-foot-long boat-shaped mound — with the same Book of Genesis-described dimensions as the ark.

While the idea that this area houses the legendary life-raft — an object central to Christianity, Judaism and Islam — is a topic of dispute, recent scans appear to indicate that it could be the case.

Jones used ground-penetrating radar to detect what appeared to be a 13-foot tunnel traversing the center of the formation, the Daily Mail reported.

These same scans captured a trifecta of subterranean layers that were alleged dead ringers for the Bible’s description of the boat’s three decks — in other words, it was literally “ship-shape.”

The Book of Genesis 6:16 states: “Make a roof for the ark, and finish it to a cubit above, and set the door of the ark in its side. Make it with lower, second, and third decks.”

Meanwhile, new analysis of the radar data allegedly revealed “central and side corridors or hallways running through the boat.”
