Carlos Dominguez
According to his high school football coach, teammates, teachers and all who knew him Carlos Dominguez was a remarkable, likable, humble, hard working-working leader who cared about others and was a success story.
He attended University of California, Davis, which has high academic standards and studied biology, hoping to become a physician. Lived with roommates near campus.
The first victim was David Henry Breaux, 50, pictured above on the right, a Stanford graduate who was known in the community as "Mr. Compassion" and was stabbed to death as he slept in a local park April 27th. No witnesses.
The second victim was Karim Abou Najm, 20, above, left, a graduating Davis student who had just gotten a job as a software engineer, and was biking home from a school event when he was attacked and stabbed to death.
A neighbor heard the commotion, rushed to give assistance (Yes, there are good people who take action to help strangers, people they don't know. Nice, isn't that?) The Samaritan witnessed a male with curly dark hair and black clothing escaping on Najm's bike, which was found abandoned later.
The last victim was a homeless woman, in her 60s sleeping in a homeless encampment (Davis has around 200 homeless people)
She was alone in her tent when the canvas was slashed and she was stabbed repeatedly. Her screams alerted the others in the encampment, they rushed to help, the stabber fled, and she is recovering after surgery.
Within days, Davis PD saw Dominguez, who matched witness descriptions, questioned him, found a butcher knife, arrested him and he is being held without bail.
Davis reported that Dominguez was a third-year student majoring in biological sciences until April 25, "when he was separated for academic reasons."
So two days later he killed his first victim.
Excellent work by the Davis P. D. in apprehending him so incredibly quickly, that's not luck, that's devoted public service.
It appears that another loser decided everyone else was to blame for his failures and he was entitled to destroy them. This time with a knife.
A Black man, an Arabic ancestry man, and a woman Don Lemon would call" past her prime", two of them homeless.
Maybe he thought no one would care?
But why would he think... Oh. Right.
