Sunshine State authorities busted a massive child sex trafficking network — accused of exploiting a single teen — this week, ending a two-year probe that netted 178 arrests, including a high-profile booster for Florida State University, according to a report and police.

The operation, called “Stolen Innocence,” which began in November 2018, wrapped up on Tuesday — and those allegedly involved face charges ranging from solicitation of prostitution to human trafficking of a minor, the Tallahassee Police Department said in a press release.

It began when department investigators spotted images of a child posted on a website that advertises sex for money, authorities said. The girl was 13 and 14 when most of the alleged offenses occurred — but the abuse may have begun even before her 13th birthday, Elizabeth Bascom, one of the lead investigators, told The Tallahassee Democrat.

A total of 72 suspects were charged with misdemeanors and notices to appear, and 106 people were hit with felony charges — 18 of those being charged federally, according to authorities.

Those swept up in the investigation include a former chairman of the Seminole Boosters, Inc., a fundraising arm for Florida State University Athletics, a former write-in candidate for local office, and a physical education teacher, according to the Democrat.

Several women were also allegedly involved, charged with helping to arrange paid “plays” with the teen in exchange for cash, according to the report.

The teen was rescued by the police department’s Special Victims Unit, and cooperated in efforts to bring charges against those who allegedly exploited her, the outlet reported.

She is “on the road to recovery, and she’s doing well given the situation,” Elizabeth Bascom, one of the lead investigators, told the local paper.

Man, that is horrible that this person went through all that before even turning 15. One of my first thoughts was that the criminals caught, who all had allegedly been involved with her exploitation, could be made into a yearbook of sorts. How tragic. I hope she heals from her trauma as best as possible, and I hope the people who exploited her receive severe consequences.

By the way, @Turd Fergusen, you were likely intending on posting the video itself, but only posted a png picture.

The fuck misdemeanor could be linked to pimping/raping a child? You'd think any crime associated with that shit would be a felony.

Curious how long this investigation was going on for them to rack up this many rapey johns. Begs the question as to whether authorities could have stepped in sooner and saved this kid before some of these crimes occurred. Or are we to believe they stumbled across a child pimping operation in which the pimp(s) kept some shockingly detailed and thorough records of their illicit business? Hard to believe.

" Several women were also allegedly involved, charged with helping to arrange paid “plays” with the teen in exchange for cash, according to the report. " These women should be sentenced to a life of working the donkey shows in Tijuana. No parole. Ever... :shifty:
Well, realistically they probably are hookers or former hookers too :/ that might not be enough of a punishment for them by comparison!

Let's see if I'm getting this right...

A two year investigation between local, state, and federal investigators... 178 people arrested...

... a single child victim.

I can't imagine why it took two years unless the victim (who was 13 when the investigation began) was just about to turn 16 (to take advantage of extra penalties for crimes with a child under the age of 16).

At this point I'm wondering who the real criminals are... Who the hell thought they should wait this damn long?

And they dropped some of the charges??? Are the prosecutors incompetent or is it business as usual there?

You're not. The abuse began at 13, not the investigation. I agree the article is somewhat vague but you can't go assuming so much.
