A 16-year-old Massachusetts girl was kidnapped and murdered by her stepfather who she had a restraining order against.

Juliano Santana, 49, was out on bond for raping her three years earlier.

The victim called a sibling saying Santana abducted her. Her family then called police who set out to find her. Police were able to find him based on a GPS monitoring device that he had been ordered to wear.

They were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds in Santana's vehicle in a parking lot outside the victim's home.

Just like all those stupid liberal gun laws, criminals don't give a shit about laws
Exactly, if you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. Criminals will find illegal ways to obtain what they want while the laws make it harder for honest, law abiding citizens to protect themselves.
I get the point thuumper is making. He paid the bail and had electronic GPS tracking. It did no good cause he determined he no longer wanted to live, and took her with him.

Sometimes it takes years to really get to know someone. He could have been a master bullshitter.
People are capable of putting their best foot forward for long stretches of time. Until a stressor comes along, a crack appears, a boundary is stepped over, it's dismissed and excused as an aberration, and on and on until it ends up here.

People think they can manage bad people. That's only because they let you believe that, giving you the illusion of some control.
And if you're in "control"? Bad behavior us because you're not on the job. You minimize the bad things they do, you make excuses for them, they don't have to do thing.

She noticed her daughter behaved differently around him. She told herself it was adolescent funk.

People who don't have bad intentions are themselves from the get-go, flaws and all. Bad people pretend to be everything you want.

It doesn't take years to know them, we NEVER knew them.
