According to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called Monday night to a home where a man, later identified as Daniel Hernandez-Lopez, tried to strangle his wife during an argument.
Investigators say Hernandez-Lopez then went outside and was confronted by the couple’s 13-year-old son.
Hernandez-Lopez allegedly lunged at the boy and tried to hit him with a bicycle.
The sheriff’s office said the teen punched Hernandez-Lopez several times in the face, possibly knocking him unconscious until deputies arrived.
Authorities said Hernandez-Lopez appeared to be highly intoxicated and may have been under the influence of narcotics at the time of the argument.
Deputies also noted that the boy’s father is not a U.S. citizen.
