A 31-year-old local woman was recently arrested after police say she sexually abused a 14-year-old child at a Pocatello home last month.
Jamie Lynn O'Brien has been charged with lewd conduct with a child and sexual abuse of a child, both felonies, following an incident last month, according to police and court records the Idaho State Journal recently obtained.
The investigation into O'Brien began on June 30 when the child’s mother reported the alleged abuse while officers were investigating a separate matter, police said.
Officers confronted O'Brien about the allegations but she denied any sexual contact with the 14-year-old, whom she said slept in her bed during the daytime hours on June 30, according to the report.
The victim provided officers with an audio recording from O’Brien during an interview and confirmed sleeping in her bed that day, adding that they engaged in sexual acts, according to the report.
The audio recording depicted Obrien’s voice saying, "Listen, uh, when you get this message, like, I shouldn't have (expletive) around with you like that. That was … my bad. Like you're immature and young. That's … stupid dude, I … have not been in the right mindset. Like, I don't know, I can't believe that (expletive). I (expletive) with a (expletive) kid that's as young as you. I … am making myself sick right now."
The 14-year-old child underwent a sexual assault nurse examination at Portneuf Medical Center and police collected evidence, incluing the exam kit, the child’s underwear and DNA swabs from O’Brien, the report says.

The child participated in a forensic interview at a local victim advocacy center, during which there were disclosures about the sexual acts, that O’Brien forced herself onto the child and said that they needed to keep the incident a secret, police said.
