A mother has died and her two young children are being treated for critical injuries after a horrifying attack in Brooklyn, according to police officials who called the attack "brutal."
The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. on 52nd Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues in Sunset Park, according to preliminary details from the investigation. Three people, a 43-year-old mother and her 3-year-old and 5-year-old kids, were said to be attacked inside their second-floor apartment.

Law enforcement sources said the mother and the attacker had gotten into an argument before the attacker bludgeoned her and her children with a hammer.
All three victims were rushed via ambulance to Lutheran Hospital after they were critically injured in the attack, law enforcement sources tell News 4. The mother did not survive her injuries.

Police said it was too early to determine why the attacker also went after her children, a 3-year-old girl and 5-year-old boy.
Police are still trying to piece together what happened, but they say the mother and her children rented a bedroom in the same apartment where the attacker also lived in a room with his child.

Sources said there was a dispute of some sort; local officials say the fight may have been over rent.
A suspect was taken into custody outside of the building, NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell said. The hammer apparently used in the attack was also recovered.

I have a feeling that the kids are probably not going to survive their injuries either. The animal who did this has not been named and no mention of him or her being apprehended. Sounds like they are going to lose not only their freedom but also their child.

I didn't catch it, but it says HE got arrested at the very end.

The husband of a Brooklyn woman bludgeoned to death by a hammer-wielding attacker apologized to his slain wife and pleaded for their two injured kids to pull through — as sources on Thursday revealed there had been simmering tensions between the mom and her accused killer leading up to the horrific crime.
Zhao Zhao, 43, was killed and her two children — a 5-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter — were left fighting for their lives after they were attacked inside their Sunset Park apartment Wednesday afternoon, cops said.
“My dear wife, I owe you an apology,” Zhao’s widower wrote in a post on the Chinese social media platform WeChat.

“I hope you can bless our child to get through this difficult time. My kids, dad just hopes you can get through this,” he added, alongside a photo of the couple’s smiling children.

The siblings, who were rushed to NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn in the wake of the attack, remained in critical condition Thursday, police said.
the alleged attacker, Liyong Ye, 47 — who lived in the same three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment as the victims — has since been charged with murder and attempted murder in connection to the senseless beatings, police said.
Cops haven’t revealed a motive for the attack, but law enforcement sources said the suspect and victim had been fighting over the use of the shared kitchen and Wi-Fi, as well as noise complaints.

They had lived together for years and their frustrations had been building, the sources added.

Ye had been living in one of the rooms with his 9-year-old son, while the slain woman and her family shared another room. Another person, who is single, rents the third room.
The suspect quickly lawyered up and didn’t make any statements to cops after his arrest, according to sources.

Ye, who was taken to Maimonides Medical Center early Thursday after telling cops he was feeling faint, didn’t utter a word when he was later perp-walked from the 72nd Precinct ahead of his pending arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court.

So wait, was she also the mother of the nine year old? I'm so confused! They appear to have hated each other, but they shared an apartment? And he slept with one of their kids (maybe?) and she slept with the other two? So much actual drama. This is why I am happily unencumbered. I don't have time for my own shit, much less other peoples' shit! :banghead:

Two Brooklyn tykes who were critically injured in a hammer attack that killed their mom celebrated the holiday season with donated gifts, as a fundraiser for them topped $220,000
Little Sophia and David — whose mother Zhou Zhou was murdered in the August attack that authorities say was carried out by her roommate Liyong Ye — posed next to a pile of Christmas presents they received in a picture posted Monday to a GoFundMe page set up for them.
“Thank you for being a part of making this holiday season magical for Sophia and David,” wrote a staffer at the Sunset Park-based nonprofit Parent Child Relationship Association, which organized the fundraising page with the permission of the children’s father, Jing Hong Liu.

“Here’s to a season filled with love, gratitude, and the joy of giving,” the post added.

As of Monday, the fundraiser had raised $220,739 of its $200,000 goal, with 3,000 people chipping in, the page states.
The money is being used for needed medical care for the siblings, with the remainder to be put in a trust for them, according to the nonprofit group.

Gotta be a psycho to over react this badly over some trivial bullshit. To attack these two small children like that... he's gonna get life but it just isn't enough justice for what he did

When I moved out this way I got an apartment which was in the basement of the main house. I had 2 rooms, my own bathroom n fire escape for $500mo/$250 biweekly. $200mo is added to the rent if someone moves in with you.
Everybody else that lived in the main house had to share bathrooms. The kitchen was shared but I never used it. The bedrooms were rented out as "apartments". There's a house in Port Huron owned by the same guy where bedrooms are rented out as apartments, sharing bathrooms and the kitchen.
