Tyler Scott Brantlinger Is accused of assaulting his girlfriend's 4-year-old son.
The child — who had an "injury on his left forearm that appeared to be caused by a burn," Delaware County sheriff's deputies reported — told investigators that Brantlinger burned him with a cigarette and lighter.
The boy was taken to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital by members of his father's family.
The boy was also observed to have bruises on his legs, arms and torso," according to an affidavit.
The 30-year-old reportedly "admitted to physically disciplining" the boy, but he denied burning the child with a lit cigarette, during a police interview.
