Deklin John King
November 18, 2012 ~ February 13, 2013
A former Marine sergeant admitted that he killed his infant son.
Jordan King pleaded guilty to second degree murder and felony child abuse with serious injury in the February 2013 death of Deklin King.
Judge Ebern Watson sentenced King to serve just under 15 years in prison.
Onslow County deputies say King brought his two-month-old son to the Naval Hospital and he died a few days later when taken off life support.
Prosecutors told the judge that King said he may have hit the boy's head on the arm of a rocking chair. They say King told investigators that it was safe to say he was annoyed because of the child's crying. King said he did have a temper and sometimes would punch holes in the wall of their home, the prosecutor told the judge.
Turning to Jordan King, Amanda King said, "Before I leave this world, I hope to forgive you. But today is not that day."
