Missouri police have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a Black transgender woman this week.

Dominique Lucious, 26, was found dead in an apartment in Springfield, Mo., on Thursday.

According to a probable cause statement, law enforcement officers were called out to the scene where they found a person with noticeable gunshot wounds, the local CBS affiliate, KOLR, reported.

On Friday, Greene County officials said that 28-year-old Charles Nelson was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the killing.

Investigators say that Nelson and Lucious had met on an online app called Plenty of Fish and planned to meet Thursday morning at that apartment, the local NBC affiliate reported.

A man who lives at that address, identified in court papers as S.D, told investigators that Lucious had stayed in the apartment overnight.

In the morning, she told him that she was meeting someone who would stop by the apartment. After S.D. went back to sleep, he told police that he later woke up to the sound of gunshots.

Using text messages found on Lucious’ phone, investigators were able to identify the suspect and later arrest him.

I wish society would just get the fuck over the judgment and drama with trans people.

Who knows where this person was in transition, and frankly it is nobody's business.

If we could all just let people love who they want to love, and fuck who they want to fuck, the world would be a far less dangerous and deadly place. If 2 (or more, fuck it) adults are in a consenting, non law violating relationship, great! Full stop. I don't need the rest of the details.

The stigmas are literally getting folks killed. It's terrible.

That's got to be a really hard part of being trans; when do you disclose it? Obviously being pre or post op. plays a big role into it all. Just a really hard part of an already hard time that they have to deal with. I have a lot of compassion for anyone that has to deal with all that. Like mentioned before no one has to worry about being killed when they said they were 120lbs and shows up at 160lbs.

I would say if you're meeting someone for the first time and it's a dating app, then that would be the time for disclosure. Obviously, no straight men would be okay with this and one would have to be delusional to think there is a way around that fact.

I agree with you overall. But IF they lied to him, that is a major violation. That means they willingly took someone's choice to an extent by lying on this...

On the other side, this dude needs to be locked up. If the reason was for some stupid shit he needs to be not let out for a long ass time. On the flip side of what I was talking of I might end up being on here myself. I'm actually of very open on orientation, but one takes away my choice by lying to me in that? Believe me that's a harsh thing to deal with. Not victim blaming, just fact unfortunately.

Regardless, killing someone for ANY reason is no excuse. Toss the dude since he decided to act as an animal in a cage.

She could have been looking to get paid and this was a dispute over money - it has been known to happen.
Heh, know of a dude who refused to pay and the"lady" of the night beat the crap out of em XD.

Oh yeah, totally agree there should be disclosure made, so people can make informed decisions about their relationships.

I meant more that if people would get the hell out of everyone's business, the stigma might not be as bad. Maybe some of these dudes with fragile masculinity would be more confident to just do what they want without fearing the repercussions or ridicule.
