Man Strangled Wife, Arrested, Released, Protection Order, Returned Home, Arrested Again

Police say 43 year old Gerald Batcher III, was arrested, accused of grabbing the victim by the neck and choking a woman while she held their 5 month old baby back on Saturday evening at around 11:30 PM.

He was then arrested once he returned to the residence after leaving before police arrived.

Batcher was arraigned and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, criminal obstruction of breathing, and assault. He was released with an order of protection issued due to new bail reform laws.

One hour later he was arrested after police say he returned to the residence.

He was arraigned again and remanded to the Rensselaer county Jail.
