Police in Georgia said Monday that they’ve identified a boy left alone one day earlier at a Walmart and arrested his father on suspicion of reckless conduct.

Gainesville police said Alejandro Cruz-Cervantes, 36, left his 5-year-old son unattended at the Walmart at 440 Shallowford Road and made no attempt to pick him back up.

The Department of Family and Children Services has since taken custody of the boy.

“Although (this is) a sad and unfortunate situation, we do appreciate the community taking swift action to help identify this young child," police Chief Jay Parrish wrote in a news release. “Furthermore, we appreciate those at Walmart who observed this child in need and notified authorities.”

Dude, I love my family so much. They used to mess with me and my little brother when we'd wander off they'd say we're gonna leave youuuuuuu. We'd be like noooooooooo. They're awesome. This guy should be ashamed of himself because that feeling at one point was terrified. We didn't wanna be lost children of Wal-Mart. Hobby lobby is a different story.. I'd be like bye Felicia

I used to tell my kids to stay with me. When they didnt, I would say: look around and pick a family you want to go home with because if you wander off, I'm leaving you here.

I suppose if I was abandoned anywhere, WalMart would be the store to be at. You never have a lack of anything - well except maybe parents & friends but still.
