Carlos Bartolo Rios was arrested late Thursday by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals Service. He is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor less than 11 years old.

Chemical castration isn't usually effective. I doubt actual castration would even be the "cure". Like other sexual crimes, it's not about sexual gratification per se. It's the obsessive compulsive nature of pedophilia that makes it so hard to prevent them from re-offending.

I think, personally, I would kill myself if I had a mental disorder harmful to others that I couldn't control.

I hear ya. I think I read the goal was to majorly reduce the libido so they dont have the urges to molest. So is it similar to how, rape is more about power than the sexual gratification? so maybe the pedos will still feel the compulsion?
