Latrica Allen, 40, is charged with kidnapping and misdemeanor assault for the alleged Sunday incident. It began as a dad and his two children — ages 5 and 2 — were walking down a city street.

The suspect pulled up to the family of three, who were walking south on Overton Crossing Street near Frayser Boulevard, and offered them a ride, according to an affidavit of complaint reviewed by Law&Crime. The father offered her $20, and he and his kids got inside.

It is unclear where their destination was, but as Allen drove south in her 2009 Chrysler Sebring, she is said to have told the dad, "I always wanted kids, and I have a better place to take you."
The father proceeded to ask Allen to stop the car, but she "refused to let the victims out," the affidavit says. About a mile away from where they entered, the father then "grabbed the steering wheel and pushed on the [brakes] of the vehicle to get it stopped."

He was reportedly successful, but as the car came to a halt and the father got himself and his two kids outside, "Allen comes toward him," the Shelby County court document states, adding that she "began scratching and then bit the victim."
She is said to have then left the scene — but not before dropping her driver's license on the ground. The father "had scratches on the right side of his neck and a bite mark on his right hand," according to police.

Allen came back to the scene "where officers were waiting," according to the affidavit.
