RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA -- Bail for a 15-year-old Ontario resident arrested on suspicion of robbery, burglary, kidnapping, false imprisonment and sexual assault on a 10-year-old girl was set at $1 million Friday.
The hefty bail was set for Kyle Osborn at the request of San Bernardino County Deputy District Attorney Jason Anderson, who said that given the circumstances, the teenager should not be given a chance to get out of jail at this time.
"(The amount) was appropriate," given the crimes Osborn is charged with, Anderson said at West Valley Superior Court.
Osborne is charged with crimes punishable with a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison, prosecutors said.
The teenager, who is 6 feet tall and weighs 240 pounds, was charged as an adult with forcible lewd act on a child, forcible sexual penetration by foreign object, first-degree residential burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and attempted first-degree residential robbery.
Ontario police said Osborn, entered a residence Monday about 3:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of West Princeton Street wearing a blue bandanna over his face and carrying a knife.
He demanded money from a woman and several children at the residence, police said. After being told they had no money, Osborn took one of the children, a 10-year-old girl, to another room and committed the sexual acts, police said.
