According to Middlesboro police, Ricky and Nichole North duct-taped their 5-year-old child’s arms and legs, punished him with cold showers, punched, slapped, choked, and body-slammed the child, and whipped him for coloring outside the lines on homework.

In a Facebook post, the Middlesboro Police Department says the child was subjected to torture, cruel confinement, and cruel punishment while in their care.

They were both charged with criminal abuse, tampering with physical evidence, strangulation, and failure to report child dependent neglect/abuse.

What leads, not one, but 2 grown adults to decide that the proper punishment for a FIVE year old colouring outside the lines is what these fuckers did. The 2 grown adults responsible for said child's welfare no less.

A mixture of being pathetic and needing an outlet for their frustrations. Something else was simmering, most likely something they shared (bills are stacking up, job insecurity/anger, feelings of distrust in the relationship) and this, this anger, this cruelty, was something they could not only vent that out on...but they could bond in it.
Just a theory, but it happens to be a very common theme in couples who abuse together.

Clearly you are the reigning King and Queed of the trailer court, but um, well, FUCK OFF, 'K? Turns out, some kids have trouble with spatial relationships and don't even find out until they're older. Like much older. Like in their 50's. Maybe, instead of being the deliberate asshold that you two geniuses think they're being, maybe your kid needs some help navigating the world?
