There is a lot of information being slowly released surrounding a mass shooting that happened in Struthers, OH that left four adults critically injured and a 4-year-old boy dead.

From what I am able to find, the initial reports were that a man walked into a home early Monday morning and started yelling orders at four adults in the living room of the home. Before the victims could comply, the suspect opened fire, hitting all four adults and a 4-year-old boy.

The adults survived the shooting, even with one of the victims being shot twice in the head, but 4-year-old Rowan Sweeney did not. According to reports, he died in his mother's arms. The adults that were shot have been identified as 20-year-old Cassandra Marsicola, 30-year-old Yarnell Green Jr., 20-year-old Andre McCoy Jr., and 22-year-old Alexis Schneider.

Police identified 24-year-old Kimonie Bryant as their suspect via text messages on his phone and one of the victim's picking him out of a lineup. According to Bryant, he is Green's cousin and an acquaintance of McCoy. He claims he is not the shooter and that his phone was stolen so the texts were not from him. Regarding the texts, they read, in part:

"Sure he ain't got one," from the cell phone alleged to belong to Bryant.
Text from McCoy's number: "Positive. Just told me somebody stole it."
Bryant's cell: "Yo girl car right in front"
McCoy's cell: "Yea"
McCoy's cell: "Come up step open door"

I'm no detective, but it sure does look like Bryant and McCoy were working together to rob other members of the home, yeah?

Police say their investigation isn't over and expect more will be charged (I'm guessing McCoy). Bryant is currently in custody and facing charges of aggravated murder.

Zomoida said that Schneider begged the shooter not to shoot her son, as the gunman placed the gun to the head of Sweeney and fired twice.
Based on the evidence presented, he said he believes neither Mariscola nor Schneider knew Bryant, however, he said one of the two female victims did select Bryant's photo from a police line up of photos as the man who shot them.
Green, Schneider and Mariscola are expected to survive their wounds. McCoy remains in critical condition.

A second suspect arrested.
. the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force on Wednesday detained a 17-year-old boy for his alleged role in the death of Sweeney, who was fatally shot during a home invasion in Struthers.

17 yr old Brandon Crumpand report he has been charged with aggravated robbery with a firearm specification.

A 17-year-old boy arrested early last month will find out soon if he’ll be tried as an adult for the shooting death of a small child and wounding of four adults.

Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested the teen on November 4, when he tried to run after being tracked-down to a house in Youngstown.

He became the second person to be arrested for a September 21 shooting incident in Struthers that killed four-year-old Rowan Sweeney and when authorities captured him, they also collected three firearms and ammo from the house.

Bond has been denied for one of two defendants indicted on death penalty specifications last week for the September shooting death of a Struthers boy.

Trial was set for May 17 for 18-year-old Brandon Crump, of Youngstown, who pleaded not guilty during his arraignment before Magistrate Dominic DeLaurentis to a charge of aggravated murder with death penalty specifications, four counts of attempted murder and aggravated robbery.

Crump was originally charged in juvenile court with aggravated robbery for his role in the Sept. 21 shooting death of 4-year-old Rowan Sweeney, who was shot to death in his mother’s Perry Street home.

Already charged in Sweeney’s death is 24-year-old Kimonie Bryant. He also faces the death penalty if convicted.

Also arraigned Tuesday in the case was Bryant’s mother, 43-year-old LaShawn Scott, of Youngstown, in a charge of tampering with evidence. She is accused of hiding her son’s phone the day of the murder.

Magistrate DeLaurentis set her bond at $15,000.

Prosecutors will not say why McCoy was indicted. There is a gag order in the case.

Prosecutors Thursday said they oppose a motion by attorneys to dismiss a conspiracy charge in the case of a man who could face the death penalty for the death of a 4-year-old Struthers boy.

In a motion filed Thursday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, prosecutors said the conspiracy count was added in a superseding indictment against Kimonie Bryant, 24, after investigators were able to interview witnesses and review other evidence that was not available when he was originally indicted.

Bryant faces 15 counts, including an aggravated murder count with a death penalty specification for the Sept. 21 shooting that killed Rowan Sweeney, 4, and wounded three others. The shooting happened at the Perry Street home of Sweeney’s mother during what police said was a robbery.

Bryant was taken into custody later that day and indicted Oct. 1 on 14 counts for the shooting and robbery.

A superseding indictment issued March 25 added the conspiracy charge.

Also included in the superseding indictment March 25 was Andre McCoy, 21, who was also indicted on death penalty specifications; and Brandon Crump, 18, who faces aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, attempted murder and other charges for the shootings.

Two other people, Bryant’s mother and Crump’s girlfriend, were indicted on tampering with evidence charges.

Defense attorneys Lynn Maro and John Juhasz said the conspiracy charge should be dismissed because it came after the speedy trial deadline for Bryant.

Judge Anthony D’Apolito is hearing all the cases. Bryant is set for trial in September and Crump is set for trial in January. McCoy was shot in the head during the attack and is not in custody. His whereabouts are unknown.
