It was about 2.5 minutes long and did a rundown of a witness seeing the truck at the house around the time the threatening phone call to mom was made, witness pointed her out as being at the residence, camera's confirmed the truck in the area of the ditch and she did say she threw him in the ditch and consented to search of her house which turned up burned carpet and twine similar to that binding poor JP's hands.

I don't understand what made mom lie about him being with the babysitter in the first place. 12 yrs old is plenty old enough to be home alone. I'm definitely not blaming her but I'm curious as to what made her think she needed to lie about that.

I'm still trying to have not conflicting stories here

If she left him alone, planning on getting out of work around 1 why is it reported he was last seen/heard from 1:45 and reported that NIGHT when she arrived home from work?

It appears she might have called the police right away but the official report wasn't filed until later that night.

I can't help but think back to when I lived in Illinois and had to work some Saturdays. I worked in an office, and they let me bring my son with me on those days. I wonder if she had asked since it was Christmas Eve if she could have brought him with her to work. I know this helps absolutely nothing at this point....but it just made me think back to when I had no sitter....and my boss being understanding.....and even though Jonathon was 12, and maybe could have been left for a while....a full shift was obviously too long. I'm not blaming the mother....just being grateful for my boss back then. And now I'm fucking crying...cuz I just heard on HLN that this psycho torched this kid to death. Dear God...for what reason? Is her life better now? I can't get the picture out of my head....we all live in a sick sick world.

Investigators say the 44-year-old woman accused of kidnapping and killing a 12-year-old Houston boy on Christmas Eve is a cold-blooded predator, and the case has left even the most veteran homicide detectives reeling.

"I was one of the detectives to interview Mona Nelson, and I can tell you that she is a cold, soulless murderer who showed an absolute lack of remorse in taking the life of Jonathan Foster," HPD Homicide Det. Michael Miller said. "There are few cases that impact homicide detectives in this manner, but this is one of them."
[...]

Miller said the killer did not use an accelerant to burn Foster’s body, and the welding torches were being tested for evidence.

Investigators believe the body was burned at Nelson’s home, but said the exact cause of death has not been determined by the medical examiner.

"She is a person who works with her hands – a maintenance worker … She works with tools – torches—and other equipment," Miller said.

As for why she might have killed the boy, Miller said they just don’t know yet.

He said those who knew Nelson described her as "a bizarre person" who lived in her own world.

And though she’s made several statements implicating others, as well as herself, in Foster’s death, Miller believes she acted alone.

"She acted alone in this crime of her own disregard for human life. She decided to take Jonathan Foster out of our world," Miller said. "I’ve worked in the homicide division for 14 years and this is the worst case that I’ve been a part of. An innocent 12-year-old boy who was described by all as happy, outgoing and well-liked in the neighborhood – certainly, it’s an absolute tragedy."
[...]

Miller said investigators were looking through other missing children’s cases to see if they might be connected to Nelson, but so far, they’ve found none.

"Do I believe she’s done it before? Yeah, I do. I don’t believe she began and ended with the abduction of Jonathan Foster," Miller said.

This is when my stomach heaved (literally), I gagged on bile at the back of my throat as I had a picture of this child's last moments of life. There are horrible crimes against children here, but if this is true...if she burned him alive... it's the worst I've heard.I really stunned and speechless. Sick, just inhuman.

Wow just reading your post made me really wish I didn't open this thread. I'll be crying myself to sleep tonight :-(

Police: Woman Who Murdered Jonathan Foster May Be Serial Killer

During an afternoon news conference today, Houston Police investigators said Mona Yvette Nelson, the woman charged with capital murder in the death of 12-year-old Jonathan Foster, may be a child serial killer.

Officers said they are investigating whether Nelson may be involved in the deaths of other children. [...]

How did this story turn so damn awful so fast? I'm so stunned and saddened over this case.

That's what it said in the article I posted. The detective said "I don’t believe she began and ended with the abduction of Jonathan Foster". The thought is horrifying. I hope, if it's true, that they can link her up and provide answers for families. Maybe she will confess, but I doubt it.

There's like 200 plus to look at, and they don't go in chronological order, but a quick glance showed a several young ones (as in not likely runaway age) gone missing in Houston. Jonathan is on there too still.

Absolutely scary thought: Just looking at Houston probably isn't going to mean a thing with this woman. Not only does she list "Traveling" as one of her interests, but her boxing bouts show her to be all over the place. New York ('97), Oklahoma ('03), Kansas ('04), and Louisiana ('06). The gal gets around and I wouldn't be surprised to hear she's not a Texan.

In that last link I posted it said she was arrested in Mount Vernon, Va for assaulting a family member there. so she might be from there.

I'm also wondering what is making them come right out and say they think she is a serial killer.

they did say
Miller described Nelson’s actions as “methodical” in the way she stalked the child before kidnapping him.

I wonder how they know that other than one witness saying they seen her talk to him the day he went missing.

This quote really shook me up
“Once we arrived at her house, we stumbled into a wealth of evidence; evidence that showed Jonathan’s body was burned at the residence,” Miller said. “Evidence that showed, perhaps, the items that he was burned with; evidence that had us fairly shaken up in collecting it.”

The 14-year veteran homicide detective called the killing of Jonathan Foster “the worst case that I’ve been a part of” and at time struggled to hold back tears during the briefing.

I've been trying to sleep for the last few hours and can't stop thinking about this horrible case. It's just to terrible.

I'm also wondering what is making them come right out and say they think she is a serial killer.
Even before this came out, Amazon speculated on the previous page that this might not be her first. I think it's an obvious assumption. It may not be true but there is cause to wonder. There is usually a progression to crimes and this is pretty far up the scale.

I wonder how they know that other than one witness saying they seen her talk to him the day he went missing.
Cops rarely lay out their whole hand to the media. I hope whatever they have nails her to the electric chair.

I seriously can not wait until the people that know her start coming out of the woodwork. This is all beyond bizarre.

I don't recall where I asked if other murders could be linked to this... Thing. I don't think it was here. Facebook maybe.
I am going to be on this story like white on rice.
I am both sickened and fascinated by this. I'm sure most of you will wonder about that, but I have a fascination with female serial killers. The ones that aren't poisoners.
I really want to know her motive for Foster. Why him? Easy to get to?
I hope to hell she killed him before burning him. And I hope to Hades she didn't rape him. Cause I'm thinking if she did, it wasn't a "normal" rape, whatever that is. Not going to say anything further on that, but I'm sure you know what I am thinking.
Scuze me, gotta go vomit now.

OMG, this bitch has a lot of nerve to yell at the police or media like that and accuse, better look in the mirror... the mom and grandma look like media whores anyways... and any bitch that can leave their child for a few years with someone else and not go to see them isnt much of a mother at all... sorry I am sure there are circumstances where you have to leave your child but most of us overcome that shit and stay for them, I know when my kids were small I was kind of psycho about that...

When Houston police brought Mona Yvette Nelson in for questioning in the disappearance of 12-year-old Jonathan Foster, she seemed unfazed, even chatty, a veteran homicide investigator said.

She breezily signed consent forms allowing authorities to search her truck and home, Officer Mike Miller said, and showed no emotion even when told she was being charged with capital murder in the slaying of Jonathan, who vanished from his northwest Houston home on Christmas Eve.

Miller has interviewed hundreds of suspects in 14 years on the homicide squad but said he saw something in Nelson's eyes that he's only seen once before — in the gaze of an accused serial killer.

It was a "dead look," said the investigator. "Anything but remorse … Stone cold without a soul."

Miller found her "a hard nut to crack," he said. "You just can't figure her out."

High school dropout
In one document from a 1985 pre-sentencing investigation, Nelson shared her life story with authorities in hopes of a more lenient punishment.

She says she attended five Houston-area schools, earning B and C grade averages. She dropped out of Bellaire High School in 11th grade and completed her GED at Houston Community College.

Recently, Nelson worked in maintenance at several apartment complexes in north Houston.

Being held without bail
A neighbor who declined to give her name said she thought the home and garage apartments were vacant. Another said Nelson lived in a rear apartment but "kept to herself."

Nelson had been scheduled to appear in a court hearing Thursday, but officials said she had a medical issue and was not brought to the courtroom.

They didn't release details of her condition. She was ordered held without bail.

Prosecutors said Nelson admitted to police that she dumped the boy's body in a ditch in the 9900 block of East Hardy.

Footage from surveillance cameras at a business nearby shows Nelson's silver pickup pull up at about 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve, a few hours after Jonathan disappeared, police said. The video shows Nelson taking the boy's body out of the truck bed and placing it in the ditch, they said.

Nelson has not confessed to killing Jonathan, and investigators have yet to determine a motive.

"I still don't know how the hell you could do something like that," Miller said.

How many of us have seen those dead eyes he is speaking of? This is just straight out scary, how and why, with dead eyes, we probobly will never know... and you can tell by the pic she wore a baseball cap most of the time... pinhead white stripe is a dead giveaway...

This afternoon, Quanell X counseled Nelson and that's when we spoke to her, too.

"I'm not a monster. I have five grandkids and I love kids," Nelson said.

From behind bars on the fourth floor of the jail, Nelson gave her side, telling us one of Jonathan's family members stopped her Christmas Eve outside his Oak Street home and asked her to dump a plastic container. She said he paid her $20, and she didn't know what was inside because she was drunk on vodka. She says she randomly chose a ditch in northeast Houston.

"I didn't know what was in it until they were showing me pictures in the interrogation room," Nelson said.

But the body, police say, was not found in a plastic container.

Investigators believe Nelson acted on her own. They say all family members have alibis.

This thing I refuse to call it human creeps me out so very much. How this monster can sit there and throw all sorts of stupid lies about to save her own fecking arse. I will be following this case very closely because I want to see justice for sweet Jonathan and this is just such a sad and bizarre case.

Thankfully, never in person.

I have just once. I worked in shipping at huge corrugated paper plant, we had weird ass drivers coming in and out all the time. before I even met this one driver my co-workers tried to ban me from talking to him (I was the only female) I was like "??" they said something wasn't with this guy and couldn't place it but just wanted me to stay away from him. well that just roused my curiosity and I went and asked him some dumb questions about his load and sent him to a dock. It was true. his eyes were flat, like they didn't have a reflection or something but other than that he seemed totally normal to me (normal as dirty lonely truckers go that is). well low and behold months later he was on Americas most wanted for killing and dismembering his best friend and sister in law. I know if I dug I could find the case but I don't remember his name, it was in Cleveland say 10 years ago..

Any way I'm so weird I surprised I wasn't attracted to him.

...... So back to Jonathan,
I looked up some articles this morning and have a few answers for us..
I seriously can not wait until the people that know her start coming out of the woodwork. This is all beyond bizarre.

Well per usual I found family members don't believe she did it ..

Nelson's sister says she spent the four days after the murder, including Christmas Day, with her.
"She showed no signs of doing anything to anybody illegal," said sister Angie Johnson. "I don't believe at all she has anything to do with killing a child. That's not Mona."

I hope to hell she killed him before burning him.
this was really bothering me too, this article says..
Investigators also found burned carpet at Nelson's apartment, twine that appeared to match the string used to bind Jonathan's hands, and a stun-gun in the glove compartment of Nelson's truck, Miller said.

Arson dogs detected no accelerant on Jonathan's body, he said, adding that Nelson possibly used welding torches at her home. An autopsy found no soot in the boy's lungs, so Miller said Jonathan likely was not alive when he was burned.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/7359495.html

Dear god, what did she do to this child. I'm glad he was dead before he was burned, but was he?

I think because of the torch she could have done that for awhile and no soot wold have been in his lungs. he wasn't like engulfed in flame so that would take a long long time to do what she did.

I have a fascination with female serial killers. The ones that aren't poisoners.

My husband and I were talking about this last night, this is really bizarre. most female serial killers have either a Münchhausen by proxy thing going on or kill for insurance, sometimes even for thrills but generally they are with someone else then.

Quite honestly not until Sanda Cantu do I think I ever heard of a woman abducting/raping and killing a child on her own and now we might have a black serial child abductor/killer?

I bring up black because I know this past year here in Cleveland, when our own little serial killer was discovered that was on everyone's lips. "we have a serial killer" "...and he's black!!" that put seemed to surprise people more than the fact we had one period.

white people seemed to corner the market on serial killing apparently.

I really want to know her motive for Foster. Why him?
That's my question too. they say he was stalked and we know she wasn't motivated by money and why choose the holiday. did she want to make sure she had a merry Christmas or that his family's holidays will forever be ruined? I really want to know what the hell is going here.

opps Sorry, I was just putting my post together when you were posting and have the same stuff. I just chopped my bit out so not to double post.

All I'm getting from this womans explanation though is that 'she wouldn't do such a thing is because she has grandkids'.
I know some one who owns a pet and she seems to hate animals so that really doesn't mean shit to me.

I've been following this story & I knew deep down that it wouldn't end well, stories like this rarely do. But, I was hoping that they would have found this little boy safe.
As of for the he/she, they need to burn her/his ass alive! I'm sorry, that's one UGLY woman......
