the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jeremy Justin Neph. The sheriff said he is suspected of torturing two dogs in Vienna Township.
Investigators say deputies were called for two abandoned dogs.

Deputies found the dogs locked in cages inside of the garage, covered in urine and feces. The dogs were emaciated and without food or water.
One dog was severely ill and was suffering from starvation and was unable to lift its head and could only move its eyes. The dog also had open sores on its legs. When Terri McComick arrived at the scene, she ordered the dog to be humanely euthanized.

Justin, a FedEx employee, told investigators his job required him to work long hours and could care for the dogs, “Nixie and Axel”.
The other dog luckily survived and was renamed “Baxter” and is currently up for adoption at Genesee County Animal Control.

Justin was arrested and charged with one count of killing and torturing an animal.

When deputies arrived, they found two dogs covered in urine and feces that were locked in cages in the garage. One of the dogs, who has since been renamed Baxter, was sitting up, while the other dog was on its side and could only move its eyes. Both dogs had no food or water, and were emaciated.
The dog that was lying down had to be euthanized, Swanson said.

"Had no strength, had no ability to survive," he said.
