An Oregon man was arrested Thursday after hiding inside a restaurant until after it closed, then heading to the bar for some booze on the house, police say.
Lincoln City police said Jason Daniel McIntyre, 31, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft charges. He was jailed, according to police, but has since been released.
Authorities initially responded to the Beach Club shortly before 3 a.m. on the report of a burglary in progress. The business owners told dispatchers their surveillance system showed a man inside the closed restaurant, according to police.
The owners met authorities at the business and let them in. They found McIntyre and arrested him without incident.
Police said McIntyre, a Toledo resident, had been drinking inside the business while it was open. He hid in an unused area of the establishment until after it closed and its employees left, police said.
He then went to the bar and resumed drinking, according to police.
McIntyre was seen on video behind the bar, drinking alcohol valued at about $5, according to a probable cause affidavit.
