James Earl Jones, the voice of ‘Star Wars’ villain Darth Vader, passed away at his Dutchess County, NY, home on Monday, Sept. 9 at the age of 93.

His reps at Independent Artist Group confirmed his death to Deadline.

Jones was the recipient of many awards throughout his lifetime, even scoring the rare EGOT honor with an asterisk — he won Emmy, Grammy and Tony Awards (including the Tony for Lifetime Achievement in 2017) and earned an honorary Oscar in 2011.

Quite a gifted man. I hear that he had a stutter in his younger years. It appears that he and his voice exceeded further than merely overcoming it.

James Earl Jones was a great man with a cultural imprint that nobody else can replicate. May he rest well up in the skies.

Loved him as Vader. Loved him in the Tom Clancy movies. The voice of the Arby's "meats". Interesting to note that from what I've read he licensed his voice via AI for future use (at least with Star Wars). I guess they can record enough and use past recordings to do quite a bit going forward. 93, that's a good, long life.
