Halfmoon Woman Accused Of Giving 10YO Son Enough Antihistamine To Kill An Adult

43-year-old Rebecca Jordan was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly giving her 10-year-old son an excessive amount of an antihistamine, resulting in his death.

The antihistamine diphenhydramine is the active ingredient in Benadryl. Saratoga County Sheriff Jeff Brown said the boy was given enough medication to kill an adult.

The investigation began after the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to an unattended death call involving a 10-year-old boy at 9:40 a.m. on January 19. Authorities found the boy in a mobile home park.

Following her arrest, Jordan was charged with manslaughter in the second degree, tampering with physical evidence and endangering the welfare of a child. She is accused of recklessly causing the death of her son by providing him with an excessive amount of diphenhydramine.

Intoxication from the drug resulted in the aspiration of his what was in his stomach and probable restriction of breathing.

Jordan was also charged with concealing the antihistamine bottle in an effort to prevent it from being used in an official proceeding.

The condition of the home she had her children living in was not great.

However she is married and from a social media perspective had a lot of supportive and caring people in her life.

The daughter stated she nor the father were home when this happened and they are not condoning what Jordan did - so I take that as they are not supporting her.
