Police in Londonderry are investigating the suspicious death of a 2-year-old girl found unresponsive in a vehicle at a local truck stop Monday.

The child was found inside a vehicle parked at the RMZ Truck Stop.

According to Cheetham, around 9:42 a.m. Monday officers responded to the truck stop after receiving a report of an unconscious child in a vehicle in the rear parking lot.
A day shift patrol sergeant arrived within one minute, Cheetham said, and began performing CPR on the child until Londonderry paramedics arrived.

The child was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead, Cheetham said.

The identities of the child and those involved are being withheld until family notifications are completed, Cheetham said.

A man and woman each face several charges, including negligent homicide and manslaughter, in the fentanyl-related death of a girl under the age of 2, Londonderry police announced Wednesday.

Authorities said Mark Geremia, 32, and Shawna Cote, 29, were arrested.

Police said the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the girl, who was about 1 year and 9 months old, died of acute fentanyl intoxication. The relationship of Geremia and Cote to the child has not been released.

A spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force said he was "extremely happy to announce" that members had caught a third suspect accused of being involved in the death of an 18-month-old child of fentanyl poisoning in Londonderry in November 2020.
Task force members were searching for Dana Dolan, 24.

Court documents accused Dolan of assisting Geremia and Cote in falsifying physical evidence after the death of the girl at the RMZ Truck Stop on Rockingham Road on Nov. 16, 2020. Geremia, Cote, and Dolan were accused of snorting the fentanyl they purchased in Massachusetts and stopping at the truck stop the night before after Geremia was nodding off while attempting to drive home. The next morning, all three were accused of taking more drugs, and later, the girl also ingested the drugs inside the vehicle and died.

The gruesomeness of the case has gripped the state during the past 72 hours which led law enforcement to issue an up-to-$2,500 reward for information that would lead to the arrest of Dolan. White said the reward "greatly increased" the number of tips reported to the taskforce — including many that pointed to locations around the Lakes Region.

One of three adults arrested for the overdose death of a 21-month-old girl in 2020 intends to plead guilty.

New court paperwork shows that an eleventh-hour deal was filed in court Friday, March 18, the last possible day before 26-year-old Dana Dolan’s trial.

Dolan was taken into custody in February 2021 by U.S. Marshals after a $2,500 reward was offered for information regarding his whereabouts.

Records show he was found in Lancaster, New Hampshire, and arrested after attempting to run away from authorities. He was charged with manslaughter, negligent homicide, reckless conduct and conspiracy to commit falsifying physical evidence.

An overview of the capped plea deal, which still requires approval from a judge, explains that Dolan will admit to the reckless conduct charge in exchange for a shorter sentence — 3 ½ to 7 years in New Hampshire State Prison.

Police reports in the case describe a series of events that led to the toddler’s death. She has only been identified publicly by her initials, “A.G.,” due to her age.

Her obituary says she will be remembered “by the light in her blue eyes, her beautiful smile with the slightest gap, and stubborn little personality.” It goes on, “We will always cherish in our hearts her laughter, the time spent with her sister, and her little voice saying ‘mom’ and ‘dad.’”

The girl’s parents, Mark Geremia, 33, and Shawna Cote, 30, each await their own trials for a long list of charges related to their daughter’s death, most notably homicide, manslaughter and falsifying evidence.

Police were called to RMZ truck stop Nov. 19, 2020 at 9:42 a.m. for a report of a 2-year-old in cardiac arrest. It was eventually discovered that the girl was even younger, and that she and her 4-year-old sister had been in a pickup truck with their parents and Dolan, a friend.

According to an affidavit, Dolan told police how he, Geremia and Cote started using drugs soon after trading an ATV for them in Lawrence.

On the way home, Geremia pulled over at the Londonderry truck stop after having a hard time driving. The three adults snorted their second line of heroin there, the affidavit states.

Police said that during an interview later at the Londonderry Police Department, Dolan recalled waking up at 6 a.m. and taking more heroin with Cote.

He said the mother was cutting the drug on a book, but fell asleep in the process, pressing her chest against it. He said he shook Cote awake and told her not to drop the drugs on her 4-year-old asleep in her lap.

Dolan told police he was preparing to inject his hit when the youngest girl began to cry. He recalled moving a car seat and unbuckling the baby.

“I don’t know if she climbed over or if Shawna ended up grabbing her, or what,” Dolan is quoted in court paperwork. “But she got into the front. and I did my shot, cleaned myself up, and put it away. and then I ended up falling asleep and A.G. and them fell back asleep in the front…”

Dolan told police that shortly after his injection, Geremia prepared three more lines of heroin — one for each adult, which they all consumed. He said he fell asleep again and woke up to screaming.

Geremia said he woke up to his youngest girl unresponsive in the front seat with her face down on the middle seat and her legs hanging toward the floor of the truck.

“A.G.” was declared dead at Parkland Medical Center. Acute fentanyl intoxication was deemed the cause.

Her sister was physically unharmed by the drugs, but described later by nurses as dirty, frail and malnourished.

A plea and sentence hearing is scheduled for May 16 in Rockingham Superior Court.

An upcoming jury trial regarding Shawna Marie Cote, the mother accused of contributing to her 21-month-old daughter's overdose death in 2020, has been canceled.

A plea and sentence hearing has taken its place on the court docket. Details of any negotiated deal in exchange for a guilty plea have yet to be made public.

Cote, 30, was indicted for nine charges, including negligent homicide, a special charge of manslaughter, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, falsifying physical evidence and endangering her children.
According to a witness at the truck stop, Geremia threw what looked like a book or a binder into the woods before performing CPR on a distressed girl in the driver's seat of the truck.

At one point, he stopped CPR to smoke a cigarette, the witness said. Concerned that no one had dialed 911, the witness said he called for help.

Others told police about Cote's presence at the frantic scene, and that she was holding the older girl as she walked toward a gas station across the street.

Investigators said they eventually located her in that area, and upon returning to the store's restroom later, they found a child's size winter vest covered in powder — later confirmed as fentanyl — in a trash can.

Cote and Geremia have a younger son together, as well. According to comments made in court, he was born with signs of heroin addiction. His age was not made clear for the public.

Both children are currently in the custody of family members and the state Division for Children, Youth & Families.

Cote is scheduled to change her plea and be sentenced by a judge at a hearing May 2.

A 30-year-old mother in court Monday wiped away tears with cuffed hands while admitting to her role in the overdose death of her 22-month-old daughter.

Shawna Marie Cote will now spend at least the next five years in state prison.

Londonderry police arrested Cote after her youngest daughter was found unresponsive in a pickup truck at RMZ Truck Stop on the morning of Nov. 16, 2020. She died shortly after at Parkland Medical Center.

Cote had left the scene with her older daughter, who was 5, to throw away a child-sized vest covered with powdered drugs.

A medical examiner determined that the toddler's death was caused by acute fentanyl intoxication.

The girl's father, Mark Geremia, and his friend Dana Dolan are facing similar charges for their roles.

Cote was the first to be sentenced when Judge David Ruoff accepted a plea deal remanding her to police custody for eight years.

However, he explained that 14 months of pretrial credit and the chance to shave 18 more months off the sentence with rehabilitative efforts will shorten her stay.

Family members who provided victim impact statements were clear in wanting Cote to serve the maximum amount of time allowed by law — 20 years. Some doubted that drug treatment would have any lasting impact.

In a statement read aloud by prosecutor Kristin Vartanian, Cote's parents remained the most hopeful, stating, "If given the chance, Shawna can and will do better."

A review of court records shows that opportunities have come before.

Vartanian highlighted a lengthy criminal history, including a DUI arrest in which Cote's children were present.
Pleading guilty in this case to negligent homicide, falsifying physical evidence and endangering a child also comes with a stipulation that Cote cannot contact her children without approval from their legal guardians.
Besides the older girl present for her sister's fatal overdose, Cote and Geremia also have a younger son together. It was mentioned in court that he was born addicted to heroin.

Family members spoke of drug use during all three of Cote's pregnancies.

The children's aunt, Mechelle Rodriguez of Abilene, Texas, described planning a funeral for her 22-month-old niece and picking out a pink, porcelain heart-shaped urn.

The final word came from Ruoff, who said, "It's hard not to react to these types of cases without being angry, it really is."

"For God's sake, you've got to watch out for your kids," he said. "They come first."
Cote will have to serve an additional 3 1/2 to seven years in prison if she is in legal trouble at any time during the decade after her release.
If the guardians are smart they will not allow the children to have any contact with this woman until she has proven for a long time that she can remain clean.

and it would be better if she can stay far away from them (no contact) until those children are of age to choose to let her into their lives or not..... tell the truth to the children by all means, let them know the reason, without blaming or pointing fingures, why their mother/father cannot at present be in their lives so that later when they are of age they can make their own decision... answer their question honestly ex. didn't he/she love us? answer would be "drugs take over your mind, body and soul.. it demands that you use more and more and makes you forget everything else except your deep need for it. that answer would prob keep the children from experimenting with drugs.... the questions you can't answer honestly, without blaming or putting down the parent, you can tell them honestly "that is not a question i can answer, you would have to ask her/him yourself, if you chose to do so, when you are older".

Dana Dolan was sentenced Wednesday in Rockingham Superior Court for reckless conduct that led to a 21-month-old girl dying from a fentanyl overdose inside a truck at the RMZ Truck Stop in Londonderry on Nov. 16, 2020.
He will serve three to seven years in state prison.
Dolan, along with Mark Geremia and Shawna Cote, the girl’s parents, fell asleep after engaging in drug use in the vehicle, leaving the toddler and her four-year-old sister unsupervised.

A.G., known in court papers and proceedings because of her age, died from acute fentanyl intoxication.

Dolan entered a guilty plea to reckless conduct for unbuckling the child from her car seat in the backseat when he planned to use drugs.
Conditions of his sentence include mental health treatment, substance abuse treatment, no unsupervised visits with anyone under 16-years-old and no contact with A.G.’s family or her parents.

Family members of the deceased child said they felt Dolan deserved a longer sentence for the crime.
“On November 16, 2020, I woke up to a real life nightmare,” Dolan said with tears.

He said he’s felt guilt ever since A.G.’s death.

“In my addicted mind, I threw away my morals and common sense,” he said.
He acknowledged the two young girls should not have been in the situation and apologized to her family members and young sister who was in the car when A.G. died.

“(A.G.) deserves to be here and I can’t even describe how sorry I am,” Dolan said. “If I could give my life for hers, I would do it in a heartbeat.”

And no one thought it might be a good idea to take the children away at that time?

The "dad" (Geremia) TOOK A BREAK FROM DOING CPR TO SMOKE A CIGARETTE?!!!

SMDH.

Well, I guess "Mom" couldn't take over CPR, given that she was nonchalantly walking away from her dying (more likely already dead) one year old.

I'm betting the poor baby was cold, stuff and blue...long dead.. by the time dad finally started CPR...he was just going through the motions, to show EMS and law enforcement (when they arrived) that he "cared."

I'm surprised he didn't use that break from CPR to shoot up again.

I wonder why none of the 3 junkies had Narcan on them? You'd think they keep it around just in case one of them OD'd...

The father of a toddler who fatally overdosed at a Londonderry truck stop in 2020 was sentenced to eight to 20 years in New Hampshire State Prison on a negligent homicide charge for his role in his daughter’s death.
Mark Geremia, 35, pleaded guilty to three felony charges of negligent homicide, falsifying physical evidence and conspiracy to falsifying physical evidence in Rockingham County Superior Court on Thursday.

The falsifying physical evidence charges carry 3- to 7-year sentence terms which will be served consecutively and suspended.

Geremia received additional 12-month sentence for two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and stealing property.
On Nov. 16, 2020, 21-month-old A.G., known in court documents and proceedings due to age, died from ingesting fentanyl when she was left unsupervised in the front seat of a truck with three sleeping adults who had been actively using drugs in the vehicle.

Geremia, along with A.G.’s mother Shawna Cote and Dana Dolan, a friend, had been using drugs since the previous day when they drove from the Lakes Region to Lawrence to buy and trade an ATV for heroin.

On their way home, the three individuals, along with Geremia and Cote’s two daughters, stopped at the RMZ Truck Stop in Londonderry.

Nearly three years have passed since A.G’.’s death.
Geremia has a criminal record and a history of substance abuse and negligence. A.G. had wasting syndrome when she died, state prosecutor Kristin Vartanian.

The state attorney told Judge David Ruoff that Geremia’s actions during the incident were not only negligent, but deplorable
