Fist of all it is strange to see her dressed like how anyone would dress who is going to court, I know that no one would go to court dressed as a dirty smelly inbred with a dad as a boyfriend, I was still surprised.

The other thing is I do feel sorry for her, we all think what happens in our family is normal until we start interacting with people from outside our family. How many time has a victim of abuse said "I had no idea what was happening was wrong I thought that what dads/moms all do". All I could read today in one of the news reports was - ' she said her son had a ' sexy ' voice in one phone conversation..' And I couldn't stand to carry on. Just vile.
 
OK, I don't doubt this Betty woman had incestuous relationships with her father, brother & some of her kids but these statements below made me think she wasn't guilty of everything, maybe guilty of not alerting authorities?

So am I naïve or does that sound like they're not quite guilty of everything? Guilty enough...but not all of it.

The twisted family who shocked the world for their 'incest cult' in New South Wales have shared sick photos online.

Six years after authorities first uncovered Australia's most depraved child abuse case, Betty Colt, a court pseudonym, has shared photos on social media with the family motto plastered across the bottom.

The Colt matriarch shared a photo of herself on Facebook with family members.

The photos had a pink graphic and love hearts framing the bottom of the photo alongside phrase 'love makes a family', News Corp revealed.

The family of 38 were separated by officials after they were found living in squalid conditions in 2012 with no running water, toilets or electricity, 328km west of Sydney.

Welfare officers removed 12 inbred, illiterate and malnourished children from the bush camp including five of Betty Colt's children - one she conceived with her own father.

Many of the children did not know how to brush their teeth, slept in dirty beds among cigarette butts and rotting food, couldn't wash their hair or use toilet paper and had facial deformities.

Once in care they told officials of horrific sexual abuse by adults and by siblings on the isolated farms, on children as young as 12.

Judge Peter Johnstone, president of the Children's Court of NSW, forbade Betty Colt, some of her brothers and sisters and her daughter Raylene from living with some family members.

However, Betty Colt has continued to share messages and love hearts on social media where a family member believed to be her son has also posted a photo with the same 'love makes a family' sticker, the publication reported.

Other members of the incest cult including Betty Colt's nephew Karl have also shared photos using the family motto.

The family matriarch spent a year in prison in 2014 for trying to kidnap two of her sons, Bobby, 15, and Billy, 14, from foster care.

As a proud West Virginian who knows what the majority of the people are REALLY like here (I’m not saying there aren’t f’ed up people here, but where isn’t there?) I’m so sick of the stereotype. It’s ignorant and ridiculous. I guarantee you nowhere will you find kinder, more helpful folk that will treat and help strangers like they’ve known them all their lives.

Please don't mind me butting in to the conbersation here, but I've read through this thread and noticed that a couple of people believe Betty Colt's real identity should be revealed, and I understand why. She's dangerous, her and her siblings have ruined the lives of the younger generation of their family. Hopefully, at the very least, the youngest ones that were rescued can grow up to lead somewhat normal and productive lives. I've recently read that two of the youngest girls are making good progress in school, and making friends and such.
It took me a while to work the nerve to post here because I'm a wee bit worried that some members might view me as a shit disturber, please believe that shit disturbing is not my intent. So here goes; Betty Colt's real name is Karen Salt. Her Facebook profile is still up, as are some of the other family member's profiles. I do not know the family personally. I only happened to find out who they are by copying and pasting a quote from a news story into the Facebook search bar and a profile came up right away. I didn't attempt any contact with them, nor do I want to. The adults are in prison, and I hope they stay there for the rest of their natural lives. I hope the children get the help they need.

If you are in Australia you are now subject to prosecution and a claim of merely repeating the information you heard from another party is not a valid legal defense. Unless you signed up and connected through a proxy, all the evidence is probably now on the DD servers. And also your phone/computer. I don't think it likely, but those court orders are not suggestions. If you are not in Oz, please disregard.

I agree, they are a strange looking bunch. Strange and terribly sad. Especially for the kids.
Hopefully some time in the near future I'll be able get out of Canada for the winter and visit Australia.

In some ways I think the families identity being kept secret is wrong. I understand it is to protect the juveniles, but what about the people those juveniles might someday procreate with? Don't they deserve to know the fucked up genetics they would be making babies with? There are already some very significant genetic abnormalities and conditions in this family from inbreeding, including some children who have died from genetic conditions or are severely handicapped for life. Innocent bystanders should not be at risk of unknowingly breeding with these people, and they all seem so amoral that I doubt they would be inclined to disclose it. Plus, the older generation keeps insisting none of it is true (even though DNA proves it is), and I bet their idiot children believe them instead of scientific proof.
