Police first responded to Denise Vazquez-Browley, 39, home in mid-June. Police and medical personnel responded to treat a 10-month-old baby, who was described as having a seizure. The baby was transported to a nearby hospital.
This led to the Albuquerque police Crimes Against Children Unit to begin investigating the child's medical emergency. Police said Vazquez-Browley gave conflicting details on who was taking care of the baby.

Vazquez-Browley is charged with child abuse resulting in death.
Four other foster children were found inside the home, along with a biological child to the couple. All of them were placed in New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department custody.
