A 35-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday on accusations that she and two other women beat her daughter with a belt, ruler and massage tool after the girl used a relative’s credit card without permission to buy clothes, authorities said.
According to an arrest report from the Lauderhill Police Department, the incident occurred Monday, but police were notified about the beating the next day after staff members at Attucks Middle School in Hollywood noticed multiple red marks and welts on the victim’s body.

Police said the victim was taken to the Nancy J. Cotterman Center and then to Broward Health Medical Center due to pain she was still experiencing in her right hand.
According to the report, the victim told police that she had used a relative’s credit card without permission to buy clothes a couple weeks ago.

After her mother found out about it, she picked up the girl from a relative’s home and drove her back to their home in Lauderhill, police said.

Authorities said after entering the kitchen area, Brittney Lynmara Burgess and the victim’s two aunts began beating her.
According to the report, the mother used a belt to beat her daughter while one aunt used a ruler and the other used a massage tool.

The victim told police that she ran to her bedroom where the beating continued.

According to the report, the victim suffered injuries to her legs, arms and hands. Despite the victim being unable to move her right hand, Burgess took her to school the next morning, where she was unable to write in class due to the pain, authorities said.

The abuse was excessive and the mother's arrest is warranted. The aunts should be arrested as well.

there is a better way to teach a child that is for sure... i don't know the ages of kids in middle school but calling the cops (after explaining that no charges but a good scare is needed) and letting the child go through the experience of what theift will earn him/her, then making the child pay back, that is holding what ever clothes she "bought" till it was paid for through giving up her allowance, doing extra chores , etc plus extra chores (unpaid) to make up for "emotional" damages she inflicted on both the relative and her mother...

I would first question is the child being neglected in some way and needed the clothes.

to me at least, teaching a child (no matter their situation) that there is a better way than stealing to get what you need gives them pride in themselves for every thing they accomplish and the confidence needed to want a better life for themselves to aim higher than the situation they were raised in....not to take the easy road but to earn their way

I agree with that but this cow looks like she cares more about putting yarn in hair then guiding her child down the right path of life.
