Nothing changes when nothing changes.

A homeless man camped out in a luxury suite at a Florida sports stadium for nearly two weeks before getting caught Sunday night, according to reports.

Daniel Albert Neja, 39, slept in the suite, and helped himself to concession stand food and fan merchandise for the Tampa Bay Rowdies, a professional soccer team, police said

It's unclear how Neja sneaked into the stadium, but his stay only came to an end when employees found him.

“A cleaning crew went into one of these suites that no one had gone into for some time due to COVID-19 and noticed there were blankets and shaving cream and a razor,” St. Petersburg Police spokeswoman Yolanda Fernandez told WFLA. “Clearly it appeared someone had been living there.”

Neja was charged with resisting an officer without violence and burglary of an unoccupied structure, and is currently being held on a $5,150 bond.

currently being held on a $5,150 bond.

For food, Neja pillaged concession stands. He wore clothes from the merchandise store worth a total of $1,043.

He was discovered finally by a cleaning crew on Sunday, who found his blankets, razors and shaving foam.

He was dressed entirely in Rowdies clothing.

Neja was arrested on charges of burglary and resisting an officer without violence. He is now being held in the Pinellas County Jail on a $5,000 bail.

Homeless guy.

I can't feel full of my usual semi-hatred on this one.

Not that the homeless aren't often druggies and alcoholics and other things I cannot jive with, but still. Homeless, wearing clothes and eating the food and living in somewhat safety... it's not there.

and is currently being held on a $5,150 bond.

Excessive bail for a homeless guy when they let people-beaters out with no bail

Can't say I really blame the guy. Look at that skin. Mark of the housing-challenged around here.

The FL sun is unrelenting, and I imagine skin cancer rates are pretty high amongst the homeless population.

Very good point @everjaded . I wanted to know more, but, unsurprisingly, there is limited data on this issue. But I thought the following snippet gave a hint of the whats and whys.

The skin without proper protections is at the mercy of the elements and can be easily traumatized acutely. In one study, 19.7% of shelter-based homeless men had traumatic skin injuries. They found that between 45-50% of the homeless seek out shaded areas, when possible.
Skin cancer, which is the most common form of cancer in the United States of America is not being detected sufficiently in the homeless and proper treatment, such as Mohs surgery, is not being offered to the homeless
Some medical specialty offices simply were not welcoming to manage homeless patients. For example, one Podiatrist basically thanked me for the referral but then went on to say she was not "equipped" to take care of homeless patients and not to refer to her in the future. Again, mental illness, disheveled appearance and poor hygiene often marginalize these patients from getting the care they need.
