Officials say the incident happened in May 2023 in which Kaliyah Vaughn’s 10-month-old baby sustained second-degree burns on both feet and third-degree burns on the back.

Doctors at NAMC contacted police because they were concerned about possible abuse.

After an investigation, Vaughn and her boyfriend Brynt Taylor were indicted a year later. They were both arrested and charged with Assault-Torture/Willful Abuse of a Child.
