A premature baby was dropped on her head moments after birth in a video from a Chandler hospital that a family posted on Facebook.

The video shows a newborn baby, Morgan, wrapped in blankets on a table in a hospital. The doctor lifts Morgan and holds her in one hand near the edge of the table as the blankets are removed from the table.

Morgan, who was born prematurely with her twin Madison, slips from the doctor's hand and lands head first, at least a ten-inch fall.

The other medical professionals in the room gasped and everyone reached for Morgan to prevent her from falling on the ground. The doctor spins Morgan, rubs her head and wipes her with a blanket.

For Monique and Derrick Rogers, Morgan's parents, the incident is a nightmare they can't forget.

"It traumatized me then, but having to relive this is not something I wanted to do," Monique said.

They say they are worried about possible head trauma and long term effects. They say it happened at Chandler Regional Medical Center in February, and that the doctor has not apologized.

"When he came into the room I said you dropped my daughter," Derrick told 12 News. "His initial reaction as nothing at first. He then asked to see the video. When I showed him the video he was speechless."

Monique says an ultrasound shortly after the baby’s birth showed that Morgan had a grade one hemorrhage, but it wasn’t clear if it was from the drop or because she had been born prematurely, as many twins are.

They say the doctor and hospital at least owes them an apology. The family says it is looking into possibly taking legal action but said it is not about money, but making sure this doesn’t happen again.

Everyone is blaming the dr that dropped her, but what about the person who pulled the blankets away?
Watch that again. And again if needed.

I mean.. No one should ever drop a baby and honestly, I would absolutely lose my shit over it.. But to put the blame solely on that one doctor? I dunno... To me, it appears she was more so pulled out of the dr's hands, by the blanket, as the blanket was pulled away.

But holy shit. Poor baby Morgan was dropped literally MOMEMTS old. That should never ever happen. Ever.

Yeah I noticed that. He shoots her a lil stank eye too. Too many people working on the baby, maybe.

Has anyone ever actually watched how rough newborn babies are handled when they make their grand appearance into the world? Has everyone forgot how they used to spank em? It was an accident and probably happens all the damn time.
Lol yeah I heard a few pple say that they won't break and talk about how brutal delivery is on the baby whenever a newbie handles em with kid gloves. :D

On the one hand it did appear to be an accident and it probably happens sometimes. No one is perfect. However, he should not have been so sloppy as to hold a slippery, straight outta the vag, newborn with one hand and I agree with @SimplySpaztastic that the blanket pulled the baby out of his hands. Which, again, wouldn’t have happened if he’d had both hands on the baby. The baby did land on the crib mattress so I doubt there was any lasting damage. I’d have freaked out at that too though and it is pretty shady to not admit that it happened until after seeing the video.

The doctor can't apologize, because that would mean admitting guilt if the family sues.

My 16yo daughter has both Autism and Cerebral Palsy. She had a very traumatic birth, resulting in the CP. We could have sued. We didn't. When she was diagnosed with CP, the doctor held her close and cried. He whispered over and over to her "I'm sorry. I'm sorry." Her birth was so traumatic that he never delivered another baby.

He had called in a specialist while I was in labor and things were going wrong, but when my daughter came out grape-purple and stillborn (no breath, no heartbeat, APGAR of 0), she ran out of the room and left him to deal with us. He worked on my girl for an hour to get her breathing, crying and praying outloud, not caring who saw or heard. A nurse told us the specialist had told him to give up after they'd rolled her away to NICU and out of our hearing, but he didn't.

So we didn't sue, but his "I'm sorry" would have given us all the ammo we needed.
