If this was her first kid I could maybe buy the excuse that she didn't realize how tiny she was but after ten I find it hard to believe she didn't realize that Tayla was severely underweight.

I certainly can not understand how the agent/s involved in this case allowed this!! She knew first hand that these children could not even communicate normally, yet she did nothing! This babys murder is on her head also!

What a selfish asshole, well all of them are. I hope.... No I PRAY the mom and dad die a horrible painful death at the end of a rusty shank!
And that case worker is put in jail and her two kids taken away. I hope she dreams about this poor baby every night and what she should have done if she was a decent human being. This had NOTHING to do with training. Can't any one take responsibility? How upsetting that they would try to minimize their complacency by blaming not removing 10 children from a shit filled home, that could not speak and had NEVER gone to school, on "lack of training" for agents!!??

I can only imagine what the surviving kids will grow up to be. The adults involved RUINED 10 kids lives.

Because they planned to live off those children indefinitely. When the children became adults they would apply for SSI benefits and be their payee. They were creating handicaps in those children. If a SW was in the home they would have deemed home schooling as in appropriate for those children.

With what they were receiving in food stamps there was no reason that an overabundance of food was not found in the home. It always amazes me in cases where the children are starved the parents are always well fed or bordering on fat.

If the father actually gets the death penalty in this case maybe it will encourage other prosecutors. I doubt the mother will bc she will use the abusive/controlling husband excuse. Hopefully she at least gets lwop. Trial set for August so mark your calendars.

A man who pleaded guilty to the starvation death of his young daughter will not be able to get out of prison to see his dying mother.

According to court records, attorneys for Alejandro Aleman filed a motion for an emergency furlough.

Aleman, 44, wanted a four-hour furlough to see his mother who is in the terminal stages of colon cancer. The judge denied the request without prejudice.

Aleman is serving a 20-year sentence for in prison for starving his 13-month-old daughter to death in 2016. Tayla, one of 10 children in the family, weighed nine pounds at birth, and seven pounds when she died. Investigators said she suffered severe diaper rash and a black eye when rescuers found her.

Aleman pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child instead of first-degree murder.
