Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) officers are investigating after a 77-year-old woman was attack in her home by a deer on Tuesday.

On Tuesday afternoon, CPW said the woman was bringing in groceries from her car when a mature doe followed her in through her propped door and surprised her inside her home.

She said she turned to find herself face-to-face with the large deer, which seemed quite comfortable inside the home. In fact, it started eating food in her kitchen as the woman tried to get it back outside, according to CPW.

The victim said she threw objects at the deer’s hooves to scare it out, but it wouldn’t retreat. When she momentarily turned around, the deer reared up and began thrashing her back with its hooves.

CPW said the attack caused multiple scratches, cuts and bruises to the woman.

The woman was able to remain on her feet and finally shoved the deer back out the door. However, as she was removing the prop that was holding the door open, the deer ran back inside the house. The woman then grabbed a mop and used it to push the deer back outside and closed the door, CPW said.

A CPW officer responded to the scene but the deer was gone. The victim told him the deer would return in the morning because her neighbors feed the deer, which is a violation of state law.

A CPW officer returned to the victim’s home Wednesday and the deer was in the woman’s yard. The victim positively identified the deer based on its unique markings and the officer humanely euthanized it.

If only human stalkers who do these exact things could also be "humanely euthanized", that would solve a few problems, too.

All dark jest aside though, this is why feral animals, including deer, should not be fed by (at least unqualified and inexpert) humans, such as the 77-year-old's neighbor. Because feeding deer like this means the deer get an easy supply of food that they do not have to work so hard for. And if they do not have to hunt or forage for food on their own because a human gives them lesser-quality, perhaps even sugary, foods; then that inhibits the animals' natural instinct to seek out and gravitate themselves toward their natural diet, as well as feed their offspring likewise. And if that happens, then this results in a not unignorable amount of disruption of the food chain.

The deer, sadly, became complacent enough to this neighbor feeding her that she invaded an uninvolved person's home and property, and had to be euthanized as a result. It may be a good-faith effort to feed the animals, but if in doubt, do not do so.

Those neighbors cost the doe her life and put the 77-yr-old's life in danger, too. If you live out in the middle on nowhere with no nearby neighbors, maybe you can just endanger your own life by feeding them; just don't do it in your suburban neighborhood.

I don't understand why such idiots can't realize that even though deer and other forest creatures will overcome their fear enough to come take your hand-outs, they're still ruled by fear and their instincts. In fact, if by feeding them, they overcame these then you would be putting the deer in danger as well.

humanely euthanized it.

video or it didn't happen and they just shot it

just saying

Link not usable for eurotrash but this video works:

(bullshit warning: they are so emphatic talking about "serious injuries" at the opening of their spew but in reality it was just some scratches. News places so melodramatic when it suits them.)
