A week after being released from jail for sex offenses, a Spanish Lake man is accused of having sex with a seat on a MetroLink train.
St. Louis County prosecutors on Thursday charged 38-year-old Deangelo Antoine Covington with first-degree sexual misconduct, a class A misdemeanor. He is currently confined in the county jail on a $20,000 cash-only bond.
The courts have also ordered Covington not to be allowed on the train if he makes bond.
According to a St. Louis County Police probable cause statement, a MetroLink driver parked the train on June 7 at the Lambert airport station and stepped off for a few minutes. When he returned, Covington was on the train and allegedly engaging in sex with a train seat with his genitals exposed.
The alleged crime on the MetroLink happened one week after Covington was released from jail through a May 30 plea agreement on four sex offenses in St. Louis County.
According to the plea, a felony count of sexual misconduct involving a child was amended to a misdemeanor. In that count, he was indicted in August 2023 by a grand jury for exposing himself in March 2023 to a child under the age of 15 years
Covington also pleaded guilty May 30 to two additional counts of first-degree sexual misconduct and second-degree sexual abuse, all misdemeanors. The two misconduct offenses happened in March and April 2023 and he admitted to exposing himself.
On the sexual abuse count, Covington admitted to sexually touching a victim without consent.
