A Hempstead day-care provider was arrested on Sunday after police say she burned a toddler in a scalding-hot bath.

According to police, a 2-year-old boy was left in the care of Yenci Elizabeth Lopez, 19, at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Police say she is a long-term day-care provider for the family.

Lopez put the boy into a scalding hot bath for several minutes, police said, and left him unattended despite his screams. She then left the home without providing care for the burned child, police said.

The child was later transported to a local burn unit for treatment of second-degree burns over about 20 percent of his body.

I say all the time how much daycares suck. All kinds of shit happens behind closed daycare doors. Speaking from experience at multiple daycares. Avoid them for your kids if possible. If not, do your homework on these places.
Background checks
Look into the neighborhood daycare is in
-How many kids theyre caring for
-Meal plans
-Discipline
-How clean and hungry youre child is when you pick them up (are they dirty? Bruises? Scratches?)
-Your child's mood/behavior on the way to being dropped off at daycare (are they crying or dreading having to go?)
-Show up at random times unexpectedly
-Question everything (dont feel bad about it either and pay attention to reactions to questioning)
These are just a few things id recommend if you HAVE to use a daycare. Dont take any bullshit or excuses from these places when it comes to your child.
