The child was just seven-years-old, and in the last hours of his life, he was suffering and alone.

Police say, the father's girlfriend, Shantay Belcher and her own three children were in the next room the whole time.

Detectives say Belcher made her own 10-year-old son help drag the boy’s body into a bathtub of cold water where she left him for nearly ten hours until Sunday morning, documents show. Police said she did not call 911 until the father came home shortly after.

The little boy was rushed to Morton Plant Hospital and pronounced dead.

OK, I hate this article. The abuser, probably murderer, is referred to throughout the entire article as “the mother” in spite of the fact that it’s established at the beginning of the article that she was not the mother of the victim. She wasn’t even stepmother to this child. I hate that in an article where this young man’s torturous death is detailed his abuser is constantly referred to as the mother. Cruel torturer doesn’t deserve that title.

According to the arrest report, the boy fell asleep on his bedroom floor around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Belcher told police she was unable to wake up him, so detectives said she left him there. The report says her own son told her the boy was “gasping” for air.

so then the real question is what happened to that poor little boy to make him unresponsive while lying on his bedroom floor. Somethings not adding up here.

Detectives said Belcher had put the boy in a cold-water bath and left him there for 12 hours. She checked on him a few times overnight and found him non-responsive, but did not call the police, the agency said.

I'm guessing she didn't call 911 because she knew full well that he either overdosed on her drugs, or had massive trauma from getting beat up. My money's on the first one, mostly because cold water is a classic last-ditch remedy for ODs when people don't want to call 911.

In at 6am, work 16; in at 2pm, work 16; in at 10pm, work 16. 1-1/2 - 2-1/2 days off. Rinse. Repeat. During down time I wouldn't have noticed if I were on fire.

The dude left at 7:30pm and an hour later the child was unresponsive. 10:30pm he was gasping for air so they put him in the tub with cold water. She checked on him a couple times later, he was unresponsive but he was still alive so she didn't do shit. She checked on him around 8am and she figured he couldn't be alive anymore because he wasn't breathing..Then she calls the father. She waited until she knew he was gone so no one could save his life.

Bitch gets 12yrs altho this was obviously intentional homicide. That sentence is bullshit
