Most of Dominick Krankall's body is now swollen and bandaged up after the Bridgeport boy suffered second- and third-degree burns to his face and legs on Sunday. The boy's sister, Kayla Deegan, said her brother was playing in the backyard of their home off Louisiana Avenue in the afternoon with other children who live below them.

"As soon as he walked down the stairs, the bully called his name and lured him over around the corner, and in a matter of seconds he came back around the corner screaming, saying 'Mommy, they lit me on fire,'" said Deegan.

She said that an 8-year-old neighbor got into a shed on the property, and he somehow gained access to some gasoline and lighters. That's when the boy called Deegan's little brother over.

"What he did was pour gasoline on a tennis ball, took a lighter, lit it up and just chucked it right at my brother's face — and then ran away from him and watched him burn," Deegan said.

Dominick was rushed to the burn unit at Bridgeport Hospital just before 4 p.m. Police said Tuesday that they are investigating preliminary reports of four unattended children seen playing with gasoline and lighting objects on fire.

Hospital officials said that the boy is expected to recover. Dominick is lucky to have survived the incident, but what happened to him left loved ones outraged — because they said that this incident isn't the first time the alleged bully has put him in the hospital.

"Two months ago under the bully’s mother's supervision, he was pushed into a wall and fell to the floor. And again, the mother refuses to admit her kid did it," said Deegan.

The family of the other boy did not wish to address the incident when reached at their home.

Police, fire, and the state fire investigation teams are investigating the cause of the child’s injuries, as well as the incident. As of Tuesday evening, no charges have yet been filed.

The family is looking to raise money in order to help pay for the hospital expenses — and so they can move out, and find somewhere else safer to live.

So obviously bully kid is a total psycho and probably wont get any mental help because he's injured this little boy before and his mother just denies there's a problem.

But..... There's 4 little kids playing outside unsupervised where they have access to a shed with gasoline and who knows what else. This is on both moms. The shed should've been locked if the kids play unsupervised. Or they shouldn't have stored dangerous stuff in there at all.

If there have been past incidents and this bully lives downstairs then she shouldve been watching her kids to protect them.

Two kIds fighting and one kid setting another on fire is in two different fight categories. Just WOW and mama defiends him, he will one day do, and I was going to say something horrible, but, damn, he's already crossed into serial killer territory.

She should sue for such expenses and much more!
Completely agree with this. The trouble is you stand a greater chance of squeezing blood from a stone.
There is a good chunk of me that suspects money is not free-flowing around the little arsonist assaulter rat dick and his incubator.

Depending on the situation I am surprised that a landlord wouldn't step in and toss her out for fear that the kid is going to burn down the place someday.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A 6-year-old Connecticut boy suffered serious burns to his face and legs after being hit with a burning ball thrown by another young child, according to his family.
The boy, Dominick Krankall, was being treated for second- and third-degree burns at Bridgeport Hospital and is recovering, relatives said.

The Krankall's sister, Kayla Deegan, said an 8-year-old boy who lives in the same multifamily home in Bridgeport poured gasoline on a tennis ball, lit it and threw it at her brother in the building's backyard.
“In a matter of seconds he came back around the corner screaming, saying ‘Mommy, they lit me on fire,’” Kayla told WNBC-TV.
The older boy's family declined to comment when reached at their home, the station reported.
Maria Rua, the burned child's mother, said her son is expected to be in the hospital for a few more days. She said his face is swollen with blisters.https://www.10tv.com/article/news/n...fire/530-51ecc906-7f8d-41b0-b860-695fa2baab14

People are amazing in this world of crazy

$476,770 raised of $50,000 goal

This is more than enough for them to break their lease, find new living arrangements and for one of the parents to take time off from work while Dominick heals both physically and emotionally from this horrific
ordeal.

The amount of love and support Dominick has received from the community is absolutely amazing. I can’t even begin to explain how grateful we are to have such a wonderful and caring group of people in Doms circle.
Dom is in such high spirits today. His face is still really swollen and taking the mask/bandages off, then scraping the skin is still very painful for him. He’s so brave & spicy a tough little boy. The community came together with first responders and did a parade with sirens and lights in front of the hospital. Dom watched through the window waving. I’m sure it made him so happy.
Thank you all SO much for the continued love and support for Dominick and our family.
We are getting a P.O. box set up for all that are asking to send Dom gifts. As we don’t feel comfortable sharing the address.
We are speechless. Thank you all.

On Friday, Bridgeport police said an investigation found no evidence the boy was injured deliberately.

Authorities reached that conclusion after reviewing video showing four children, ages 6, 7, 8 and 11, playing together in the backyard of a residence on the day of the incident. The youngest children were seen playing with fire and gasoline, according to police.
"There is nothing on the video portraying any of the children deliberately injuring the other," police said in a statement.

The development in the case comes nearly two months after Dominick Krankall was taken to the burn unit at Bridgeport Hospital on April 24.
Dominick’s family has not commented on the police department’s findings.

The boy has been released from the hospital, according to police.

"The entire first responder community are praying for his on-going recovery and our continued thoughts and prayers are with all involved at this time," authorities said.
While video doesn’t show anyone deliberately hurt the boy, police said their investigation is not over. Additional interviews will be conducted, according to officials.

That 8 year old needs to be forcefed psych meds, for the safety of society. AFTER a nice, long stay in a forensic hospital.

I would imagine someone will still be in trouble for allowing those kids to play unsupervised with fire and accelerants. If mom had know, I doubt she would've been okay leaving him there. I would hope not anyway.
