"Around 3 a.m., the suspects scared the woman in her sleep by wearing clown masks as they broke into her home on Dec. 1, 2022.

Deputies said the suspects were armed with a sledgehammer.

The woman said she had locked her bedroom door, but she heard a banging noise, and two masked suspects broke the door.

Investigators said the woman had tried to call 911 on her cell phone, but the suspect with the sledgehammer took it out of her hands."

"One of the suspects tore apart the room with the sledgehammer and found a safe in the closet.

Deputies said the second suspect, a woman, consoled the older woman as she prayed, and said “everything is going to be OK.”

I realize she was part of the crew, but that was very nice of her to do.

There was $40,000 worth of valuables in the safe and the victim was able to use her house phone to call police

"...... home surveillance video led them to find the other suspects, including Melissa Martinez, 23, who later tried to sell the woman’s belongings at a pawn shop.

Investigators identified the other suspects in the robbery as Jaydie Cintron Mayoral, Nelson David Cruz and Shakira Rivera Colon. "

I was going to ask you if it was the one with the bar code looking neck tattoo, but two of them have that...

Hmm. I really wasn't looking for an ethical perspective of their moral failure in decision making.

I must point out that it is not uncommon for an elderly crime victim to suffer a heart attack during a crime from the distress experienced, and this small gesture of comfort and reassurance (unprovable) may have prevented a cardiac episode.

Plus, mitigating circumstances are formally entered into the record for the jury to consider when sentencing, so it is not inconsequential that she comforted the victim during the commission of the crime, though in reality her job was probably to keep an eye on her.

And of course, by asking you that, my hidden implication is that she should get a BRAND NEW 3-piece Living Room Furniture Set!! and a lifetime supply of Sanka.. Sanka... Everything you love about coffee.

Peer pressured and intimidated into a crime she wanted no part of the night she thought she was going to a costume party to benefit orphans. At 3 am. While carrying a loot bag with a big dollar sign on it.
