Police in the Canadian province of Quebec warned citizens against posting surveillance footage of their packages being stolen because it could violate the "private life" of the alleged thieves.

"Montreal West is known for its large porches, but around the holidays, those porches are a big target for thieves or ‘porch pirates,’" CTV News Montreal videojournalist Olivia O’Malley reported on Saturday. "’It's something we deal with on a daily basis,’ said Montreal West councilor responsible for public security Lauren Small-Pennefather.

"You have people that are following the vehicles, and when they see a parcel that's dropped off, they then go and take the parcel if nobody comes to the door to retrieve the parcel," Small-Pennefather told CTV.

I knew Canadians were nice, but they are REALLY nice!

All the videos were basically videos of the victim's yards or porches, the thieves made the decision to trespass on private property, whether it's owned by a single person or rental conglomerate, to unlawfully take packages that are not theirs. I'm sure, each and every thief knew that the chances were extremely high that the areas where they removed the packages were being videoed, as such they freely made the choice to be videoed.

All this boils down to: Don't make no shit, won't be none. Keep your asses away from places where you know you don't belong and stop picking up things that you know are not yours, then you won't have your extracurricular activities spread all over the internet. See it's just that simple.

Should they stop videoing inside a store to help the store owners catch shoplifters, would that be considered a violation of the thieves private space?

They say the same stupid shit about rapists. Even if convicted, once they've done their time they have a right to privacy.

I had a friend who was contacted by the police and told to take down her posts about the man who raped and almost murdered her. He was convicted. He DID do it. But she was threatened with legal action if she posted about who or where he was. Because revealing his info put HIM at risk. Who cares about the women in his new neighborhood or his new gf.

Criminals in Canada know punishment is a cake walk so there's no deterrent. It's why I decided if anyone ever tries to harm me or my family, I'm going to try to kill them. None of this just enough to equally defend myself bullshit. I'm going to do my best to make them dead or severely maimed so they can't have future victims and if they do survive they may think twice.

And hey, if they arrest me for it, my punishment will be easy enough.
