Wow,
I didn't hear about this on the news. I was thrown a snip of the body cam in a YouTube short. Then I went searching for info on it and WOW. What in the actual fuck.. it gets worse every way you turn.

So from watching the body cam, to reading about it, and then reading more into the family's past. Just wow..

A Buffalo Police Officer pulls over a driver (Daevon Roberts) for speeding and dark tint. Front seat passenger is an unbuckled 6 year old child. Car pulls over and officer initiates seemingly normal calm traffic stop, right? NO.

After the officer asked Roberts to step out of the car because he didn't appear to have a valid license. Roberts throws the car into gear and takes off, at high rates of speed (estimated 60+mph) WITH THE OFFICER CLINGING TO THE CAR'S DRIVERS SIDE DOOR FRAME AND ROOF.

The cop shot him several times, then rolling him from the car while clinging to the car at 60+. Child was physically unharmed.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Police have released body cam footage of an incident where a police officer being dragged by a vehicle at high speed shot Daevon Roberts, 25, just after midnight Wednesday.

Roberts was previously indicted for allegedly trying to shoot someone on April 22, 2024, at a vigil for his brother Jaylen Griffin. He faced charges for attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Police investigating this latest incident say they found a loaded gun under the driver's seat Wednesday, which would have been illegal possession. Ownership of that gun is still being traced.

It's unclear if any of that played into what happened after what police say was a standard traffic stop for speeding and illegal window tints on Kensington and Poultney avenues in Buffalo.

BPD says after a calm conversation between police and Roberts, officers ran a check on a screenshot of a Georgia ID Roberts provided. It turned out that was just a regular ID, not a license.

Police say when their check failed to bring back any valid licenses, Officer Ronald Ammerman, who has been with the force for seven and a half years, asked him to step out. That’s when police say Roberts took off.

“I think that car you saw in the video, it was that 0 to 60 [mph] in a very rapid, rapid succession," said Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia. "I think the officer did what he had to do to survive.”

Roberts younger brother, 12yo Jaylen Griffin went missing on August 4th of 2020. His remains were found back in April 2024 in a house. A few months after Jaylen went missing, Jaylen's older brother; 18yo Jawaan was shot and killed across the street from their home.

I am also posting the following link, with whatever kind of trigger warning you may need.. this is body cam footage.
Body cam footage of a police officer shooting someone at 60+mph and him rolling out of the car onto the road. There is blood. And only thing blurred is his body when they roll him over.

That's your fair warning that this is NOT a kitten or baby goat video.

And I'm going to take a HUGE gander here... he was on the run from his prior indictment for shooting at people in retaliation for his brother's murder. Being that he had a court date back in June 2024, where he was going to be held without bail, it makes sense?
Roberts is scheduled to return on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. for a pre-trial conference. The prosecutor requested that the defendant be held without bail. The defendant remains released under supervision.

That poor kid! Sees his uncle basically trying to kill an officer. Sees an officer shoot his uncle. And then is in a runaway car with no driver!
You can hear the fear in the officers voice as he runs to check out the kid. Thank goodness little guy wasn't harmed.
that little guy wasn't harmed physically but wow emotionally and mentally there will be lots of damage... i sure hopes he gets all the help possible because that is something that can be unseen or unfelt :(
