A man named Spencer Elden claims he's the naked baby famously pictured in a swimming pool on Nirvana's groundbreaking 1991 album cover ... and he's suing the band, its surviving members and Kurt Cobain's estate, 30 years after the album dropped.

According to a new federal lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, Elden claims he could not consent to his image being used on the album art way back in the day, because he was only a 4-month-old baby ... and says his legal guardians didn’t consent to it either.

Elden's going even further ... in his suit, he claims the image is actually child pornography. He also claims the band made a promise to cover his genitals with a sticker but it was never incorporated on the album cover.

According to the docs, Elden claims Kurt, Dave Grohl and the rest of the band failed to protect and prevent him from being sexually exploited ... and he says having his naked baby body plastered on a famous album caused him to suffer lifelong damages.

Elden's going after the band, Kurt's estate and others for damages ... and he wants them to each cough up at least $150,000.

Sadly I'm afraid this will win.

There was nothing sexual about the damn photo, but of course he's more upset that the band blew him off and so he is going nuclear
and see the pic from 2016 -he came out and did interviews to try and get clout because it was him in the picture - he didnt care at all in 2016, now all of a sudden he cares??? he just wants money

If he proves his image on the cover is child pornagrahy, his parents are looking at years in federal prison for sexual exploitation of a minor.

Btw, in a 2016 Time article, he didn't hate being on the cover, but was upset that he wasn't getting any money from the studio from that album and was currently living in his mom's basement.

He was soooo traumatized by it that he has a tattoo across his chest that reads "NEVERMIND"

GTFOH ya big pussy! The photo served you well. The only reason this dude is relevant is because of the album cover and not in spite of. Elden is now <feigning> offense is because it is now cool to be outraged by EVERYTHING.

The article I read (link below) also quoted some bullshit about the cover being "sexually provocative" and triggering "visceral sexual responses". Ummm...I've seen that album cover prolly 10,000 times since its release and not even once did I consider it to be sexual. It's been 30 years, bro. Let it go!

"Elden claims his legal guardians never consented to the image being used for the album, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE."

From @BBBLUE77 People article.

His legal guardians (his parents) were paid $200 for the image. Read the last paragraph in the article I linked. The photographer was a friend of Elden's father. Spencer Elden was a minor--clearly--at the time and was not of legal age to contract. Rick Elden, as his father, made the choice.

If Spencer is so appalled and bothered by people knowing it's his "baby penis" on the cover, perhaps he should cease from calling attention to himself...

I don't see the album cover as sexual, but I do think the album cover is not very good. Nirvana is a historically overrated band with a marginally good (on the best of days) lyricist/singer/guitarist who was often too addicted to heroin to be constructive or stable. Not sure why I have to be continually reminded of a band with such overly simple and meaningless songs. One of the songs has a pre-chorus that literally just says "yeah" ad nauseum. I guess that must have been an off-day for this brilliant yet misunderstood lyricist. Also, yelling "rape me" repeatedly does not really come off to me as convincingly anti-rape, despite the ever-so-good intentions of the song.

I am a '90s kid, but I did not grow up listening to Nirvana. And ever since then, I have felt like they are just another '90s relic thrust upon the public in a way that does not give much of anything. There are continual reminders that this band existed once. They were underground for a while, until they were not. They were such a seminal band in the grunge movement! Celebrate them! Kurt is so misunderstood and moody and forever young! Freaking gag me.

I can't give you enough props for this!
I will admit though buying Probot on a whim turned me into a Dave Grohl fan,The Foo Fighters are a great band for the most part.

The opening credits of Black Widow was a cover of “Smells Like Team Spirit” by Malia J, it was the first movie I saw in a theater since COVID raised its ugly head. Good movie, and the song was prefect for the opening of it.
I dont know if it's your cup of tea or not but,the livewire tune from motley, the cover on The Dirt, had a slower tone, just like this. Good cover.

As a band I too feel they are overrated, just like as I do with The Beetles. There were other much better grudge bands and I never thought Kurt Cobain was even that talented (especially as a vocalist), but Nirvana (like The Beetles) had such an influence in the direction of music that their contribution shouldn't be dismissed out of hand just because there were artists who were better than them. If it wasn't for The Beetles we might not have had Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, U2, or Queen. The same with Nivana, without them, some of my favorite bands probably would not have been formed, like Seether, 30 Seconds to Mars, Weezer, and, of course, the Foo Fighters.

Basically, Nivana, like The Beetles, dared to be different and they changed the course of music.

I'm fairly certain that if Nirsplana had a drug addled, blood thirsty, murder cult tied in? I would echo chamber myself into a fan.

Fuck that...The white album, amphetamines, 105 proof Fighting cock? As close to Nirvana as this Slippy motherfucker gets.

Again, can't say if this is accurate or not, but kind of makes sense:

This guy is genetically and socially predisposed soft and damaged.
