According to the criminal complaint, deputies followed up at a home in Eleva after being contacted by Mayo Hospital in Rochester, about a one-year-old flown in by helicopter for what was described as a brain bleed. Investigators say the child was hurt while at Hove’s daycare.
Hove told authorities she stepped away for several minutes, then found the child on the floor and believed the child slipped and fell. But the complaint says the child’s mother reported unusual bruising on the one-year-old and the child’s sibling after daycare, and a doctor concluded the bruising was most consistent with physical abuse on more than one occasion.
The complaint also says Hove later told a deputy she “did it twice” and was “sorry afterward.”
